How to detail (get fine tune adjustments)?

Scale/Rotation/Offset

So trying to get more serious about modding and start making parts.

The problem I am having is the level of adjust in the details. How do you experts get the great level of details and make things align properly, scale properly etc.? The adjustment scale seems to "gross" when I am working at that level (scale)?

Do you scale things up when designing parts and then scale the part down when import? or how do you do it?

Thanks

You can adjust all the scaling and alignment while designing ships in the game, so i guess you can import any old part and don't bother refining it until you decide to use it on a ship?

My question is on designing the parts themselves.

For example I am trying to design a decent missile turret. and in trying to get the missile ports to line up I can't seem to do it properly. So wondering how other people do this?

  1. Do you scale up really large and design things, then scale it down when you import it?
  2. Is there a way to make even finer adjustments without scaling?

i have never imported any components so not much help for you there.

i thought the in game component adjustment system is exceedingly adjustable toward size, angle, shape, everything..... are you saying you need finer adjustments than that?

This may help in paint you could import or make the part afterwards you could resize the picture. You could even change the save format.

There is a check box under scaling, uncheck it will unlock scaling by axis. Same applies to rotation.
