Whatever happened to throbbers?

Awhile ago, people were trying to learn how to make them. Then when they did, I was glad to see them. But it has been a long time since I have seen one.

They are used in webblinds to replace the little windows flag in the upper right corner of the toolbar, I'd also like to see more of those!

.... well, some people were also using them for task-bar buttons in window blinds. Motion did, so did StarOne. I really liked them.

I don't know.... probably Starone could tell you (I am almost 100% sure it was no dream!)

Making a throbber would be beyond my feeble skills right know, and I don't know how you could use one in Windowblinds, but it would be cool to know how to, and cool to see more of them around.

...motion is gone. /me goes to study starone's old skins.

Ok, if you download Royalty. It doesn't show on the task-bar (I couldn't find one that did) but it does on the start button. Some of the skins she did around that time also have throbbers, and also, the buttons in the information windows seem to 'throb' on many of those skins.

https://www.wincustomize.com/window.asp?Cmd=COMMENTS&Lib=1&SkinID=2686 A skin called Tranquil has throbbers in the task-bar. Make sure you click on the task-bar and make it active, then they throb.

Starone really did do a lot of innovative stuff with her skins....

AH, she is using the animation feature. You can do this in some of the sections. It's still a little beyond me but I have made it work a couple of times.

interesting... what ever happened to those features to change the throbbler, and toolbar buttons in Windowblinds, They said it would be in WB4, but it seemingly didn't make the final cut, I would really like to see that...

What you're referring to isn't a 'throbber' at all goodmorphing. You're just seeing animated buttons, which are moderately easy to make in a skin, but don't have anything to do with the Explorer throbbers.

I still can't think of 'throbber' without going into Benny Hill mode.....

da: Yeah, I think they were going to change webblinds and do something different to change the IE icons, etc. Perhaps incorporate it into WB as you said? I can't recall offhand what they said when asked about the future of webblinds. I'm thinking (hoping) that's still on the "to do" list.

Ah... thank you, grayhaze. I remembered following a conversation on the message board, and then motion published a skin with that style of taskbar buttons. I assumed that was what they had been talking about.

The throbbers can actually be changed in XP using gpedit.msc from the run line.

This brings up the group policy editor window, where you can hunt through and find the option.

good tip hippy

Yeah I believe the idea was to incorporate windowblinds and webblinds together, but it didn't make it to WB4, but maybe they will put it in this summer when the 98/me/2000 version comes out

it's a feature that I was really looking forward to
