"Each weapon module should be firing independently"

Brad said last yeah (during 2.5 I think) that "each weapon module should be firing independently". I have been trying to test this in game, and it doesn't seem to be the case. Nor is it what the wiki says.

As per the wiki: "Whenever a weapon is ready to fire, the ship will fire on its primary target, or another nearby ship if its primary target is still out of range for that weapon. All weapons of that weapon type on the attacking ship fire as one single attack"

Can anyone (ideally the devs) please clarify what is actually going on? It would be amazing if what Brad says is true, as it would actually make ship design have a bit more agency - rather than just sticking on the biggest thing you have - but I suspect this isn't the case.

Thanks.

I saw this statement of Brad also and understood is as an already implemented feature, but sadly that was an illusion, or at least a misunderstanding.

I would also consider that feature a great step to enhance the strategic depth of ship design. For example it would then make a big difference whether you fit a lot of small weapons on a ship to fire at a lot of tiny targets at once, but are too weak to crack the defenses of a bigger ship, or if you put a few powerful weapons on a hull that would be a waste if being fired on an enemy fighter but are necessary to take on big ships with a lot of defenses.

As far as I know the best mechanic in this regard have Stellaris. It IS complicated but at least you have an actual strategy there and its NOT like the bigger the better all the time.

YES , It would be WONDERFUL to have the weapons be intelligently fired:)
