A strange kind of lock-up...

Sometimes when I leave my computer for a few minutes, when I come back the monitor is completely black except for a blue and green dotted line along the top. I dont know what causes this. I have no screensave applied, no standby, no hibernation. All the computer is set to do is turn off the monitor. And then whae I wake it up, the monitor turns on and I see the screen I described above. I am running ME with 128mb sdram with a 32mb NiVidia Geforce4 graphics card. Any hep on the issue is welcome if you have it. Thanks in advance.

By the way, the only way to get it to restart is by hitting the escape key a couple times.

When I had ME and it did that, I had to shut it off and restart to get it to work. I hated ME.

In your Bios make sure 'Power Management' is enabled, scroll down to monitor off settings and change to 'Vert+Syn+Blank' (the wording differs from bios to bios, but look for 'Blank'). Do not set any times. Save and exit. That should fix it
