Any way to tell when a skin has been updated?

I have several skins that i use that have no shellstyle support etc...Would be neat if there was a way to be notified that a skin you are using has been updated.I have tried to modify some myself in skinstudio but this tends to not work for some reason.Just changing the window background color can make other element disappear for good.

If its real old, probably hasn't been updated. Go to the windowblinds section and do a search using the skin name. That will do it. If it was updated it will say so and if it has ShellStyle support you will see the icon.

Thanks WOM but that would take a long time if your checking a lot of skins. How would you keep track of which ones you had checked?I really was thinking more along the lines of a "skinwatch"similar to the way WC notifies you when a message thread has changed.

That would be nice, but you can keep an eye on the update section.

Interesting idea. Brainiac. A skin update notification service.

As it is, if it's a significant update, it *should* pop back to the top of the WB library and also be noted in the "Updated Skins" list. But sometimes more subtle changes won't warrant that and only occasionally checking the skin and hope the author left comments about an update would give you a clue. There's always emailing the author to see if he/she plans to update, but I know you're really thinking of automatic system for notification.

I like your "skinwatch" idea Sounds like a good additional benefit for subscribers.

That would be a great addition to the site.

It would. Good idea.

What about a sticky thread that is titled 'Updated Skins'?
Or, as an alternative, a regular thread and you could put a watch on it. Whenever someone updates their skin or skins, they make a simple post like "Hey, I updated my XYZ skin" or something to that effect.

what pictoratus said...some way to set a 'watch' status on a skin, just in case.

That would be ok if the thread where only used to post updates to skins and nothing else.Maybe an occasional request for a skinner to update a favorite skin. But i guess you could do that directly to the author.

How would this be hard? Just use the WC browser, have the person enter a list of skin names (EXACT skin names) as well as what library they are in. Then it can go and check the dates on each entry, store the last updated entry, and once a week go and check those same entries to see if the last updated bit has changed.

This should be something that would be extremely to do with the WC browser. It would be harder to code it into the site itself, but this kind of thing should be a subscriber-only benefit which makes it logical to only bother patching it into the WC browser.
