Kona, it will be a close poll. Remember, you won'tget 1% responding to it. So it won't be accurate. Over 700,000 members and my guess is that if everyone voted the world would win out over the US.

If everyone voted we wouldn't have a moron in the Whitehouse and the world would be a much safer place...

See Frogboy's recent news item regarding stats on site visitors and use. Much more accurate than a poll because it's based on the website's logs which records such info. In his news item he has this statement: "Overall, 36% of WC's traffic comes from foreign domains." Which logically would suggest that 64% of the traffic is from domestic domains. https://www.wincustomize.com/newsBoard.asp?ID=1893

This would suggest that .com, .net and maybe .org (he didn't name that) would be from the US. Since several years these extensions can be used by non-US countries too. In my country we see a lot of these extensions and I worked for several Dutch companies that onwed one. So his 36% would be a minimum.

Exactly, my ISP has a .net domain, so every post I make from home will be from a "domestic" domain. It's perhaps better to go by ip adresses and dig up which zone they belong to.

Anyhow, polls only represent the choices of those who voted on them. Nothing more, nothing less.

Indeed, you can't rely on the domain suffixes to determine to country origin. A lot of ISP's around the world use the .NET suffixe, just a a lot of corporations use the .COM suffixe, no matter what country they're in. There's this perception that .COM sounds more serious. My own web site is a dot com, althought it's incorporated in Canada.
