Wow thanks for that update. Already tried reinstall and the purge BAT thing. Fences won't stay on. I get this, same as whoever took this pic...

This update is putting a bright blue hue on my wallpaper... Does anyone have a fix? Or can I just downgrade?

The newest Update breaks DisplayFusion and Wallpaper Engine being able to work properly together.

I can definitely pinpoint the root cause to fences because the issue occurred directly after the restart after the update and was fixed once fences has been uninstalled.

Display Fusion has a Wallpaper Manager that can apply static wallpapers. Wallpaper Engine applies animated Wallpapers. Usually Wallpaper Engine is able to override Wallpapers set by Displayfusion (or supposedly any other Wallpaper Software). This makes it possible to have a combination of animated an non-animated Wallpapers.

With the newest Update of Fences this behaviour changes so that only the static wallpapers can be seen and any animated wallpaper can only be seen if the wallpaper IN WINDOWS is set to a single colour. The animated wallpapers are "hidden" between the static ones which previously was the other way around.
The Result is that both cannot work together because Display Fusion has no option to not apply a wallpaper to a screen and from a technical perspective its likely also not possible to implement because it just makes one big wallpaper for the whole desktop stitched together I think.

These 3 Programs worked fine before the Update and were compatible to the extend each of the features of the specific software is compatible.

Sadly I can't use the new Version as long as there is no solution for this issue :-/

Edit: Btw, can someone provide me a link to download the old version ? Seems like I don't have any installer for it.

I've got this back working after the debacle, but it's running version 2.13 -- that can't be the latest 2.x version because roll-up isn't part of this... can someone explain how to get the latest version before this 3.x mess today?

this is just bad customer service, how in the hell you made the program incompatible on purpose, to make sure people buy your crap!, wpe have a wide selection on wallpapers and art made by a large comunity, i cannot even express myself, this just make me angry.

I had to completely uninstall Fences, then instal the "update' It works but the issue is that I had to replicate all my custom fences. Again, not that much of a deal but frsutrating.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Quoting WynApse, reply 22

Well thanks a bunch for that f-ed up 3.0 install.

I had to run the batch file to remove it and when I installed the 2.x version on my page it runs just fine, but all the MANY fences I have where nuked.

just wow...
End of WynApse's quote

No Fences are 'Nuked' with any batch file we created.  Any recent snapshots that you have should restore you arrangement to what it was upon reinstall (snapshots are not removed with an uninstall or batch purge):

Again, sorry for the frustration and thanks for your patience.

I found the a download for 3.09 here

I just installed that version and it works fine with WPE!
End of DandyDev's quote

Please don't use installers from 3rd party sites.  I will post a legit 3.09 version in the changelog.

That said, Fences 3.09 will not be updated and it will keep prompting you to update. It's a far better option to see why you are having issues.

This thread contains several requests for the install file for the most recent stable version prior to 3.10. Providing users with the ability to roll back until the conflicts with 3.10 can be resolved is a reasonable expectation. Users should not have to source a bootleg copy of the install file from an untrusted internet source.

Why is the option to roll back to the most recent stable version not being provided?

Thank you for providing a legit copy of the 3.09 installer. I look forward to seeing it appear on the change log.

Stardock Fences
Version 3.1.0.5

Snapshot Name label caption is not tall enough.

I noticed this after installation but before rebooting (Is that really necessary?)

Scummy thing to try and force people using WPE to your version of the same kind of software...

Thank god there's a workaround, or I'd be uninstalling Fences since you want to try and force people to switch to your software...

The current issue I face with Fences. Everything else works as expected. I just need this tint removed.

I've already rebooted, purged, and uninstalled. This was not an issue before the update.

If you are using WPE, disable it and try again, please.

I appreciate that a legit copy of the 3.09 installer is being provided via the change log. I don't want to sound impatient, but is there an estimate of when the file will be posted to the change log? I am eager to resolve this issue and restore my previous workflow.

That WPE does not work well with this version is not intentional - some of the changes needed for this version just happened to conflict with how WPE renders images on the desktop.

Again, there is nothing nefarious about it.

what you say may be true -- and I have backups of that folder anyway -- if you're talking about the folder in appdata/Roaming.

However, when I brought up the new version... it did NOT read that file and decided how it wanted them to be displayed... as did the 2.1 or whatever the 2.x version was.

I've now completely uninstalled fences and going to try the latest 1 more time... I don't want to run the 2.x one with no roll-up capability, so if this doesn't work, I'm done.
