The upgrade is blocked ? I`ve got prompt for a new version from Fences. I will start upgrade but this stuck at 10%. I restart computer, but nothing happen. When I manually check an upgrade I`v got "Your Fences version is actual". But I still have 3.0.9.11.
I found an email with announce version 3.1 but when I click Download I`m redirect to download 3.09 ? Where 3.1 is available to downlad ?

I think Fences v3.1 as on halt at this moment. It should be re-release once all the issues is properly iron out. Appreciate your patience.

Totally hosed my ability to use Fences. I had to reinstall the previous version. It would crash explorer and then Windows would have to refresh the entire screen. If I remember correctly, this happened when I would try to unroll a fence on the second monitor. I see some others are having the same issue. It appears that a fix has been attempted but the posts are "strike through'ed". Please fix this. I have never had a problem with Fences in the past and have recommended it to other family members.

While we were able to resolve the crash issue, there are some outstanding ones we are still not comfortable with (WPE compatibility being the most pressing).  Thus, we are rolling back the live version of Fences to 3.09.11.

Your account page, should you have an account, will have it soon:

https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

Thanks Sean,

I'm sure this issue has been as frustrating for you and your team as it has for all your users. The rollback to 3.9 worked for me, and I look forward to, cautiously and only after double checking with these forums, installing the update when it's ready for the public.

All the best,

John

Everything on my desktop disappeared after the forced update to fences yesterday.

It looks like Stardock is using its customers as unpaid beta testers. I can't even use the desktop anymore.

I will never buy another Stardock product again.

Could you answer my questions in post #113 about rolling back to version 3.09.

I don't want to do something incorrectly & make the problem worse.

Thanks

I now see the version 3.09 download in my account.

I currently have version 3.1.05 installed.

What is the correct process to do the downgrade?

Do I need to uninstall version 3.1.05 before downgrading?

If so what is the best way to do that? Use the purge batch file posted, uninstall thru Object Desktop, or thru Windows Programs & Features?

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks

That worked !!!!

The first time I ran the purge file it came back with an error that C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Fences\FencesMenu64.dll could not be deleted because it was in use.

I selected Abort and then rebooted.

I checked and the FencesMenu64.dll was still in the Fences folder.

I ran the purge file again and it completed successfully & the Fences folder was now deleted along with the dll file.

I rebooted again and installed version 3 .09 from my account.

Reactivated Fences from my account

I also had to restore all of my Fences from a snapshot I had saved before installing the problem version 3.1.05.

All is now ok.

Thanks for your help.

I just downloaded the Fences update and Explorer says Fences is disabled and i can no longer see any icons.  I really don't want to purge and lose all of my settings.  Where is the link to the previous version?  Clearly you didn't test this enough based on the support forum.  You should make the previous version available to your customers until the current version works correctly.

The update with the issue has been rolled back the previous version so you should be able to redownload via your store account to get the older version again.

I installed the new Fences update and found that I began to have problems with my computer. My PDF software began to take a long time to upload a PDF, a file indexing program became slow to respond, and a Microsoft game site now refused to load beyond the introductory page.

I like Fences a great deal; it has been very helpful. And, I'm glad you have now provided a link to re-install an earlier version of Fences. I just installed that earlier version and the problems I mentioned previously have now suddenly disappeared. Thank you. I look forward to my continuing use of your program.

Are there any ways to get back my settings? I tried the purge, and also removed my settings. Testing out old versions just seems like more work...

Will the faulty version auto-update? If so, I might just sit with my hands in my lap and wait...

I took a chance and instead of purging I just uninstalled through Windows. I did get a message that a  couple of .dll files couldn't be deleted, I just hit ignore and finished the uninstall. Then rebooted the computer and reinstalled version 3.09 and it worked fine. I think preserving the .dll files actually helped since the reinstall restored all my previous settings so it is just like I never installed the update in the first place.

I will not be installing this update again until it is truly fixed. I had the same problem with Explorer crashing continually when i first installed the update as a beta, still having the same issue with the presumable stable install. Apparently it's not so stable after all based on the complaints here

My problem with this approach is that I cannot uninstall Fences (3.09), whether that is by trying to uninstall through Windows:

OR trying to install 3.12-j75 (for example):

and, after cancelling, the final error message before exit is:

Checking my Program files, i can find within Fences the lua5.1.dll file highlighted above (327KB) dated 15/03/2020

I do have an Uninstall folder in Fences, which contains JUST uninstall.dat (428KB) dated today, plus a separate file in Fences called 1xuninstall.cmd (1KB) dated 31/08/2015.

There is also uninstall.exe (1357KB) dated today, which I imagine SHOULD be the one to use, but when I click on it (even 'as Administrator') I get:

Can anyone help me to repair this issue, before I try to recover/reinstate my many missing fences?

Thanks

Rollup fences don't work for me after the update. Win 7 (64bit, 7601, SP1). Some don't roll out at all, some do, but their contents remain invisible requiring me to first hover over where the icons should be.

It is July 25, 2021, three days after the last change to the first post in the thread, and I am unable to download Fences 3.10 from my products page as directed.  When I attempt to do so, the mouseover of the Download button indicates that what will be downloaded is still version 3.09.  I already have 3.09.11.

3.09.11 is hopelessly broken on my system currently, leaving me unable to add, move, or remove fences, as if the configuration has become read-only.  I was hoping to obtain version 3.10 and attempt to start over from scratch.
