What exactley is Photoshop Elements????

So I got this premade computer givin to me...It came with "Bundled Software"..Which I am not really familure with..The photoshop elements was the only thing on it I recognized..Well I opened the app. And it seems to look just like photshop6 or 7..I had purchased P6 as a student a few years back..When the upgrade came around I got 7...So What is "elemnts" and how is it diffrent from P6 or7..I only noticed the "tabbed" section at the left top side with a help section and a few pointer tip stuff..It all seems to have the same stuff as regular Photoshop..Is this as good as Photshop? is it worse? and if so what are the pros and cons..also Ive been kicking Corel Draw 11 around as a purchase in the future what is better..The reason I am not to thrilled with Photoshop is the Lack of ability to get rid of anti-aliasing..I find it hard to get good smooth looking buttons and curves...Any thoughts here???

I must also add..as a student I was not taking graphic desighn classes, I just had the oppertunity to get software packages from the school to use..I picked up a pack with P6 and another with Bryce and Something by Ulead studio...3D lettering or something like that...So I am not an expert Graphic Desighner..I just like to play on my computer and it gives me something to do...

Photoshop Elements is like Microsoft Works compared to Word, yea you get the simple job done with works, but any real writer/publisher would use Word. You got 1000% more scalability/features/options etc. That's why Works Suite is like $50 and Office is $500. The same reason why Elements comes free with your PC and Photoshop is $600.

Elements is the pared down version of Photoshop...it has less features, not as complex as PS. Adobe seems to be targeting the home/family digital photo hobbyist with Elements. The Adobe website has a better description of the features in Elements.

I think 'Elements' is a cut down version of PS...that can be bundled with hardware....but is not the full-blown proggy. My new Digital Camera came with it included, for example...

Yeah, thats what I thought also..I was just playing with it and it seemed to work just like photoshop..Now what I want to know is what do you guys think of corel draw...compared to photoshop.

If you are getting 'serious' with digital graphics then PS is regarded as the 'Industry Standard' and understanding thereof generally a pre-requisite for employment. For fun?....Horses for courses....

Okay cool..I wasnt sure..Ive never played with corel draw. so wasnt sure what was better..Like I said I do it for fun and Im learning new stuff all the time..Thanks

Corel Draw would be better compared to Adobe Illustrator. I believe there is Corel PhotoPaint that would be better compared to PS.

With everything I've dealt with my professional and personal opinion would be adobe anything is better than corel everything. And elements is just the lower end version of photoshop, elements replaced photoshop LE a while back as I believe it was called.

You find it hard to remove Antialiasing in Photoshop? turn it off

Corel is clunky...

All but Painter and that is a Metacreations product that Procreate aquired, not much they can do to screw it up.

Fireworks and Freehand work well from what I have seen, though Adobe is and sets the standard for a reason....
