I actually live in the Los Angeles County area in California where all the trials are happening or of major concern to the community. Kobe Bryant is a Lakers star and we would hate to lose him. If he is guilty then that is the end of his career, no doubt.

What I find interesting about it all is the panties issue. If Kobe did rape her as she described, why was semen for another man found on her panties, not Kobe's as I understand? Also, I think I heard that she even changed panties. Did she do this so that she would have on the panties that she was wearing the night of the alleged rape, or did she change panties in an attempt to fool people by wearing some with semen on them. And she was stupid enough to believe that science couldn't figure out that the semen wasn't Kobe's. Something is wrong, very wrong with this girl, and her story, and her sex life in general. Personally, I think Kobe was set up.

O.J. Simpson is another case completely. Any man who beats a woman, as O.J. did, is a coward. He is sick. He was guilty. And, Nicole(his slain wife) was money hungry and paid with her life, god rest her soul. I actually met her mother and sister.

Well, in theory, here in Canada, a victim can't drop charges, because the victim isn't the one prosecuting. Only the State can drop charges.  But in practice, what can happen is that in the case where the victim is the only witness, she can say that she lied in the first place. But in that case, if the case is then dismissed, the former accused can turn around and sue the girl for lying in the first place and therefore causing harm to his reputation.  She would never be allowed to sue him under civil court if she admitted having lied in her original deposition.

Crime has become legal a long time ago, and it should be obvious to everyone who followed the last US presidential race. As always, power is in the hands of a few and those who abide by the law can work their whole lives just to pay the people who are in power.

Colorado state law is far more stringent on this sort of thing than some other states. Just as Texas is about other things and some things/acts are prohibited in one state that are legal in another. State laws vary. So one should take that into account.

One might also say that a multimillionaire celebrity must be careful since people may want to take advantage of him or blackmail him. Although if the woman just wanted to make trouble for him (if it was consensual as he claims) a far more financially rewarding approach without public scrutiny and death threats would have been to make some accommodation as no doubt frequently happens without *any* publicity. That she didn't take that approach is interesting.

As for Bryant, at least he's not some poor schmuck with no money for lawyers who winds up spending 10-20 years in jail until DNA tests exonerate him. Bryant likely will get the best "justice" money can buy.

Anyway, state laws vary from state to state. (And as Johnny Cochran might say: if there's any doubt, don't take it out.)

I find her quip and proper and also feel she looks down her nose at everyone as if they are below her. Of course most rich people do to some extent when class is the defining wall placed between them.

Why do people hate Martha Stuwart so much? She hasn't done any worse than many many other corporate CEO's. Is it because she's a woman? A woman that can be as much a crook as a man seems too unnatural?

Not for me paxx, and I do not hate her. I do not care for her personality because of the similarities with others who have done me harm in the past, but I do not pile that baggage upon her. I just find I do not care for her, though I do find that she is getting the shaft while Lay ran off with the Gold mine and seems to get nothing more than a a dull look.

As far as her being a woman goes, she forgot her place in many peoples opinion I think.

When a Man questions someone or promotes with vigor he is insightful and holds to his convictions.

My wife constantly deals with the issue of body parts hanging in all the wrong places so she is treated as being less than male. Even though I would put her up againt anyone on this site or just about anyone I can think of as a CIO, CFO and in most instances CEO in the Medical arena. When those people need voice in dealing with such as Medical Manager they flock to her and she is their voice, when they have need for deeper under standing of Federal and State Grants and funding they call her, when they need back ground on products, ROI and otherwise they call her. Yet those same men who hold the same position as she does or has in the past have always been paid $15,000 and much more than she was.

Oh and they always taken the credit...

So as I said, for me her being female isn't an issue for me.

the way she talks and acts for starters. I hate her voice. I really hate her show and how she thinks she is a god of home decorating.

Women are every bit equal to men as men are too men. We could'nt live without them. Respect them. Don't know their place? That is ridiculous. A woman's place is beside a man. And a man's place is beside a woman. I think that her problem is that she may have been a shrewd business woman, but what's wrong with that? Men have always been held of great honor for that and make great money because of that Quality. Look at Rockefeller. She just wasn't wise to the ways of the world. She needed a man to front for her. And, everything would have been thought of as okay.

But, as far as justice and equality, a lot can be said about that in her case. It was much different when it was a man.
