FAO: People making bootskins

For your information C:\programs files\stardock\bootskin\SkinNameDir is the default for all boot skins, if they are placed anywhere else the the BootSkin program will not find them hence you will not be able to see them in the list.

Of course if you have installed to anywhere other than the default BootSkin directory then that is your problem not that of others, We should not HAVE to follow your instructions >

He was only suggesting, not commanding. And it isn't that bad of an idea.

Stumpy : There are quite a 'few' people that don't have the english windows version, therefore their default path is NOT C:\program files. And I think You are behaving quite rude in this and some other threads. I think You have to calm down a bit...

Seeing as how Mr Lowry lives in UK I'm sure He has an English version, and I see no reason what so ever to place the BootSkin program in any other directory than the default.

But I will appologise if my comment was a bit rough.

Well I downloaded a skin earlier, that extracted to Program Files\Stardock\Wincustomize\Bootskin\Skins which is just annoying

The way I see it is if you don't put any path name in, running the .bootskin extracts the contents to skins\skin name folder wherever you installed bootskin, and also lets you do 'install from file'
Adding a full system path creates sub directories when using install from file, which is why alot of people can't get alot of skins to work. Having no path makes it work perfectly (I repacked the above skin and tested it by installing it both ways)
So its not just for those of us who install stuff in strange places (I have ALL my programs on a separate drive to windows, that way I can do a system restore from a disk image on the windows drive and not have to reinstall everything else ) but it will help everyone

The problem is with the BootSkin Program itself.

When a skin is made and tested it is where it should be, the when it is Exported it zip with that path, and renamed to .booskin.

So almost any bootskin skin will have the path in the file as default.
