Jesh, you have no more relationship to scientific fact than Kona. Unless you can execute and interpret carbon testing, you are just reiterating something your read in a book, just like Kona. I have faith that Australia exists, but I don't have one single shred of *scientific* evidence to the fact.

Not unlike the people who don't believe anyone landed on the moon. We can laugh at them, but we can't say we *know* they are wrong with any more assurance than they have.

We have to retain enough uncertainty to admit that nothing is certain. The confusion between "believe" and "know" was what kept people drilling holes into other people's heads and what empowered all the high-brow scientists Hitler had to back up his anthropological ideas about race. If it is "Science" it must be true.

I'm all for going to the Moon and then on to Mars. It is the quintessential human behavior. Why stop now? Most of the fiscal fogies that poo-poo space exploration just "know" there is nothing out there worth having...

I think it's a waste of money until they come up with proper propulsion for space travel. If they would spend the money it would take to walk on the moon on trying to create a faster way to get there, we wouldn't need a lunar base to launch ships to Mars. We could do it from earth. Or gee how about a space shuttle that doesn't blow up?

the space shuttle was dated ten years ago. It was no surprise to me that it blew up. It was a tragedy, but at the fault of beuracracy and politicians not the scientists. I hope Bush revitalizes interest in the Space Program. If he does I might vote for him. I believe that space program is vital to the nations moral and the money spent on it is such a small percentage compared to the other government expenditures that I have no problem money wise with it.

Oxidizer blown across the Paraffin with resulting gases ignited reaches the closest thrust as the solids used now for the Space Shuttle... Close enough to actually do heavy lifts and it can be a controlled burn by muzzling the Oxidizer....

I read about that a little while back, forgot where. But it does make sense. And it is a lot more stable then other fuels.

Both Shuttle Disasters were caused by human error in judgment. Personally I feel they should have a trial over both happenings because they ended up being based completely on money and Bureaucratic Bull..

and BOTH times the actual Engineers told them what very well could happen and it is what happened *BOOM*....

Somehow I think they didn't mind failures with the space program. It gave them an excuse to cut money from it.

On the way to work this morning....talk radio....some Dr. of UFO...ology was saying that NASA and this new endeavor by the government was just a "show" for the public. That in reality we already have a small manned space station on the moon. Putting shuttles into space on 1940's technology rockets was again a "show". That we have already developed and use some kind of anti-gravity technology to deploy air/spacecrafts into space. Might be all just a bunch of bunk, but the comment about the 1940's technology made me wonder just a little bit.

You want to boost the nation's morale? How about spending the money that we would spend on a moon walk on looking for a cure for cancer? A national health program? A cure for Aids? Finding people more jobs? Getting us the f**k out of Iraq quicker? You want to boost morale then get that moron out of the oval office who's done nothing but lower national morale and get someone in there that can get the job done right.

I believe in the NASA. I don't believe in wasting money going to the moon. I think they should be trying to figure out how to get our ships to fly faster not make a return trip to a dusty rock.

and exactly how would this work to get things into outer space. I guess it could levitate things and slowly bring them up. I think the most promising technology to getting things into space is the slingshot stuff. gigantic rail guns and stuff. and more stuff. and some beans. and a couple of tums to reduce the aftershock.

Actually iPlural makes a good point (even if he didn't mean to)... boost the nation's morale by developing an alternative fuel source so we don't have to kiss OPEC's @$$ anymore or pollute the environment as much as we are.
