Start11 v.2.06 Auto Changing Taskbar Icons

Recently upgraded to the current version 2.06. Since then every time I open file explorer or my email client, the icon changes to default. Trying to reinstate my icons works until I open the app again and it changes it again. When I click the toggle to NOT let Start 11 control my taskbar, it works fine with Windows controlling the taskbar. How do I go back to an earlier Start 11 version?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know.

  1. Windows full version number. Use Winver.exe
  2. How did you change those icons?
  3. Do you have any other 3rd party application installed that change Start menu, Taskbar or Explorer.exe?

Thank you.

Are you using the taskbar buttons combined or uncombined and how did change your icons?

No other 3rd party apps used to change icons. I use right click and properties to change icons. Everything has worked until 2.06.

The top picture is turning off the toggle in Start11. The 2nd picture is with it turned on. Initially the icons appear the same however when I click email or file explorer (which have personal icons attached) you can see what happens. Unless you can fix the bug, I will choose to use the system taskbar.

I never combine icons.
End of mw1862's quote

What icon do you see in the titlebar for the applications in question?

When not combined the icon in the taskbar comes from the window not the shortcut once the app is running.   This is how Windows 10 works in uncombine mode too because unlike when in combined mode, there is a 1:1 link between an application window and the taskbar button.  Only when combined does the icon from the shortcut / app get used because there is no way to handle multiple windows having different icons.

OK so I changed this option to the above and it's all good now. Thanks to all who replied to my post.
