I'm getting much better at finding Greek characters on the keyboard and can 'mimmick' typing Greek words, I have a long way to go until I understand them I know a couple though: ωαι όχι μπύρα χαφές I have some brewing right now...must go get some...εισαι πολυ καλος φιλος

Hello Angel...no priest yet...stopped in a software store and found a CD that teaches greek. It is very basic and geared more for tourists. I have a question about accent marks. When you write, you do not use them, where as this program uses them with every word that has two or more syllables. Is that standard, most people in Ελλαδα not using accent marks when they write or type?
Soon, I will talk to the priest about language classes.

Years ago,Greek people used to put a tone and some other signs but we don't use to do it anymore.We use a system called monotoniko.It means we have to put a tone exactly where the word is stressed.Let's say αγόρι'boy'..(agόri).But it is ok ,you don't have to put any tones,everything is quite understandable.

Quiet day here. Not much happening. My hamster SpeedRacer had a seizure and passed away on Friday. He did not live that long. He was only about a year old.
I got a new hampster yesterday. She is a dark chocolate colored hamster. I haven't thought of a name for her yet. I have to figure out her personality first

I found a website http://www.translexis.demon.co.uk/new_page_2.htm that explained a little about the modern greek language and how it was only the 1970's that a decision was made between Katharevousa and Demotiki. It was very interesting reading and helped me understand more about the greek language and what you were saying about using different tones and signs before and now just use a tone on the stressed syllable.

Tomorrow we watch the Superbowl here in the USA. I am cheering for the New England Patriots since New Hampshire is in that region.

Anyway I'm just taking a break from doing house chores and thought I'd say hello. Back to work for me Talk to you soon....
