Good and Bad Experiences w/BackUpMyPC by Stomp, Inc.

I use BackUpMyPC by Stomp. This product is actually a Veritas program resold by Stomp. I use it every day to backup about 4 GB of data to DVD+RW. Before I got the DVD, I backed up to CD-RW.

I only backup data files. If something goes wrong with an application, I would just re-install it. With todays huge hard drives, it would take forever to backup everything.

I have not had the need to recover anything yet.

I don't use it on a laptop, but don't know what difference that would make.

I have also contacted Stomp for technical support via email and got a very quick response. This was when I needed to move the application from my old PC to my new one, and had lost the original download. I learned to back up that download manually. They let you re-download the app three times, I think, in a one year period.

OK, so I just updated from version 4.85 to 5.0, and now it no longer states this is a Veritas Application. Stomp must have aquired the rights to this application.

Got it about 2 weeks ago. I tried to do a full system bup only to find that it won't span between DVD's properly. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. I've tried several times and had nothing but failures. I'm looking for another solution. Anyone have any good ideas?

I was thinking of looking at some type of "Ghosting" product, but that typically won't let you do a selective restore...my understanding is that you have to re-image your entire drive from your backup.?
