oh no!! getting blurry!

i never realized how bad my trinny monitor had gotten until i bought a newer flatscreen last week that now sits right next to it. during the last couple days, when moving stuff between monitors i've had to blink and shake my head to focus on the material because the change was so strong.

after 6 years, my 420gs trinitron is starting to get blurry

personally i thought it would have a much better halflife.. but.. i HAVE moved 3 times in the last 3 years and all that jostling might be breaking it up. short of putting it into a shop and having the tube ripped out for a few hundred bucks, does anyone have any suggestions on 'tweaking it'? the moire or convergence doesn't help at all.. if i switch resolutions or refreshes a couple times it gets sharp for a bit but just ends up fading back out. radgeon 8500 card .. know any tricks? thanks fellas.

My advice is to get a new one before you need to spend more on glasses. My monitor gradually went blurry over the space of a year, and took my eyes with it. I'm now on my way to short-sightedness...

It is always cheaper to buy new one than fix a montior.

New tube and labor could go past 200$ in price, while you can grab a new good 17 in for 180$.

Monitors will deteriorate....usually it's the brightness that wanes...so along with that goes any real contrast and therefore things will look blurry.

Never forget to degauss though.....now and then.  It's amazing what that will sometimes do for a seemingly tired monitor...

brightness, color, is incredible. its a 19".. was 650$ when i got it so i'm scared about what a new flat screen is gonna cost. its just hte sharpness, its a shame. hmm im wondering if i can trade it with a couple hundred bucks for a 620 or something like that.

I've had my eye on a Princeton 19in .25 dpi True Flat monitor for $199, so look around you find something for a decent price.
