probably its just very crowded. Remember, all the cool graphics of the site layout have to be loaded to, maby trying a little lighter skin for the site would help

select speed and you should be ok.

you can also hide the icons and it loads alot faster.

...most pages load in less than 2 seconds for me, and I've not noticed any long delays - except when a page contains a lot of previews, say when looking at the entire page of skins for someone like Pixtudio (which took just under 20 seconds to load and about 40 seconds to finish loading all the graphics). I don't think the site is the problem here...

#1 is probably on the right way : changed to the default skin for the site and it's a little better (but still slower than days before ...)
