BootSkin...color changes

Hi,
when I make my own bootskins...using paint shop pro 8...4 bit 16 colors..they don't seem to look the same when I boot up my computer..the colors are changing. Is there a program I can use to see what they will look like when i boot up so i don't have this problem...also sometimes the images are decreased from 24 colors to 16..would this have anything to do with the problem?? thanx

If there is a colour problem when running the proggy that is usually due to the palette of the two images NOT being identical.

They must be IDENTICAL.

10 dollars for every time I say this and I will be able to retire and live comfortably....

also sometimes the images are decreased from 24 colors to 16.

If the original image has 24 colors, then it is NOT 4 bit 16 colors. 4 bit 16 colors means exactly that... there are ONLY 16 colors in the image.
