Macro Commander (formerly Macro Toolworks) is a macro program that lets you send keystrokes to Windows, paste text from the clipboard, and automate many Windows functions. You can start (trigger) the macro with hotkeys, mouse actions, or by typing a string of characters defined for the macro (a Text shortcut).
- The macro modifier-key triggers (e.g., Ctrl-K), and mouse triggers work on both Primary and Secondary computers.
- The Text Shortcut type of trigger, which starts the macro after you type a string of characters (e.g., typing "startMyMacro"), only works on the Primary computer. This behavior was also present in previous Multiplicity versions. It seems some part of the keyboard input is not passed down the hook chain on the Secondary unless it is preceded by a modifier key.
- The triggers work when you use a keyboard connected to the secondary. So it seems to be an issue with how keystrokes are handled from the primary keyboard.
- I should also note that Macro Commander runs with admin privs.
My workaround is to add a modifier key trigger, but there are only so many of those, and it is another thing to remember.
Is there anything that can be done to fix this?
I'm a huge fan of Multiplicity, as the Seamless Display mode in a multi-computer setup really helps me be productive. As Macro Commander is also an essential productivity tool, I would very much like to get this working.
Thank you for considering my request.
