....tho i may not fit in as king ..i do play my part and i am proud of the part i play ..contributing in any way makes this "kingdom" a better place to be...Tis better to be the jestor of a happy kingdom..than the king of an empty one...

Show off your favorite desktop configuration by uploading a screenshot of your desktop!.
This is the description at top of screenshots library. It doesnt mention any rules or the number of screenshots allowed per day, week or month. Either change name of libray, change description of library or add some rules for library. Until that happens stop ya bitching about what or how many screenshots are uploaded. How come no-one ever bitches about apple mac screenshots,,isnt this a windows site. That would be a more valid grievance surely. Now if you'll excuse me, Im of to make a screenshot, where I may or may not give links.

Go for it...and I may or may not bother to approve it this week or the next....

The 'bitching' is in reference to those who pathologically spam the uploads in a vain attempt of advancement who achieve nothing other than to disadvantage all the other users of the site who just want to upload one screenshot now and then and NOT have it/them bumped into obscurity by the omnipresent.

buzzh58 you have missed the point of the thread comletely...it is assumed that people would excersize restraint.A NORMAL person dosnt change his freakin' desktop every day, much less every few hours.(how can it be your favorite 'configuration'if it only last a few hours or days?)

Thats the whole point of this thread...maybe we need some more stringent uploading guidelines. And if your gonna submit, have some courtesy for the lookers and the authors by at least telling everyone what they are looking at!

If you can upload a ss after reading this thread without caring about any of that then.....

buzzh58, that's exactly what the description is... "favorite desktop configuration" mahing more than one FAVORITE a day heck - a week, makes it kind of... not favorite? I mean... if you really like it, you have spent a lot of time time setting it up, how come you can have more that one of that a week!
In my opinion the library description says it all and any more than 1 upload a day chould be rejected.

Absolutely right I.R and Skin ! My favorite desktop stays on a week or more, I've seen some people d/l at least 5 or more SS in a day, then when an awesome SS comes along u almost miss it coz its bumped to the bottom of page or the next page >

My point is ,, that at the moment there arent any rules as such, only common sense and unless rules are made you are always gonna get people that go overboard. So make rules otherwise stop bitching about those people. And Jafo if you do have the power of approval why did you approve so many screenshots by a certain person. If youd exercised your responsibility properly this thread would never have needed to be started.

You see that says it all....."I may or may not approve it this week or next" SO....WHO approved Butch 123's Screen shots that allowed him to have 5 or 6 in a row so his shots exceded more that 10,000 since last October? You all fail to see the point, you allowed it to continue...why didnt you just change the rules ?

Fairyy, that's what this thread is all about. and i believe Butch is mostly the reason it was started.
I'm sure the rules will be set and enforced if common sense will keep failing. The thread is most probably to make people think. Free will and a brain is a powerfull tool.

I understand why you were discussing this, but he was not the only one that submitted more than one a day. I just felt it was handled poorly. This site is supposed to be a group of Professionals. There were better ways of doing this other than the comments i've seen ..." Super " I'm not one to mince words and goof on people. I am direct. Do I think Butch exceded the reasonable limit , yes I do. But, thats why you need guidelines. This looked like a lynch mob . You badgered him until he finally gave up. Im sure your all proud of yourselves now. And...if I do upload a screen shot, and it" may or may not be approved " , well.....who gives a rats @#$ , would only make you look like a spoiled child at this point.

oh, and sleeping dragon...my comments are sincere..i can find something nice in everones work. The only reason i made the comment was when I saw someone write " Let's make SS's works in progress". Hence my comment about all Kings and no Citizens.

Hey, we could always sell server space and bandwidth to people, then uploading 100 of them in a week would be totally agreeable, no?

Or...you could just set guidelines rather than pouncing on one person like hungry Dingo's...Gee, guess I wont be in the " screen Shot " of the day again. But, at least I won't be kissing anyone's , well , yanno.

If being reasonable means arse kissing, then I'm one of the world's finest and most consistent buttox-smoochers.

~Spider..your missing my point entirely. Some people do not mean any harm in what they are doing. Thats why you need guidelines. But to ridicule one person until they leave is unfair.
Its seems ok for you all to be sarcastic , but when others are...they are told " well , I may or may not approve your screenshot " that , in my opinion is childish...

You're entitled to that. Maybe a well-worded e-mail to Jafo is the appropriate action, then? I see no good in continuing this thread, really. The only thing worse than name calling is doing so publicly, ie: on a public message board. Just e-mail him and be done with it.
...besides, I'm willing to bet Jafo meant that comment more tongue-in-cheek than actually threatening you. It did seem, to me, an "absurd" response to an absurd statement.
I agree....and this whole thread could have been avoided if that person was emailed instead.

.. No point in me continuing. I'll see if I can get this thread locked, instead.

This thread was to sound the waters of opinion as to what would be deemed appropriate.

No-one was singled out as the situation described fits several people equally.

It's clear that few if any appreciate excesses of screenshot uploads so we can see about convincing others to be more moderate/considerate.

Things went pear-shaped here approx 20 comment s ago, so consider it closed.
