Thanks for the congrats. I hadn't realized myself that I had reached the Chosen One rank ;) I probably should have a mugshot on the page considering I'm on the Council. Obi-Wan could you use R2-D2 as my picture? The idea of that cute little guy swinging a lightsaber around just makes me want to laugh LOL My lightsaber is cool the way it is. Thanks Obi-Wan for all the work you've put into such a great website.

Thanks...good review this time. I lost 3 Maso games this weekend, so I was not able provide any points. I am going to have to drop down to help the Empire out.

O.K., Yoda, I joined the blog group.

BTW, there are no blogs under politics. Also, send me a copy of the constitution, please. Email here: [email protected] .

OK fellow Jedi and others, I have a couple of questions for you. First off, I am in the middle of a game, allied to the Altarians and Torians, all other's have been taken out except for one minor (I eat up the minors as the appear); I am dumping over 700 bc in espionage on the Altarians for many, many years and do not get anything. Am I just wasting this money or am I not able to steal from an ally? Also, just a few turns ago, a message popped up saying that the Drengin are now nice people, but their empire has been long gone; why did this message pop up? Did their remainder of their population finally decide to turn good on the planets that have been taken over? Thanks for any help with these questions and may the force be with you.

I know other people have claimed this happened, but I have never personally gotten any techs from espionage. I also had the same thing happen about the change in morality in my last game, but with the dead Torians.

Theoden:

Thanks for the writeup! It seems like every time we start closing on an empire, they wake up, but we're still here, working our way up the ladder. It's always nice to be noticed by the press...

Dooku:

As far as I've seen, espionage spending is virtually pointless except to avoid a bad event or two. I usually just use a couple of clicks on each race, supplemented by a few destabilization clicks if I'm planning on shooting at them. Take the rest of that 700 BCs a turn and dump it into rush-buying a couple of Avatars to show those pesky Altarians the power of the Imperial Fleet - er, to "educate" them in the ways of the Force. Or for that matter, just buy the techs outright to keep your alliance.

StBlasius:

Good to see you here on the forums again, and thanks for the website kudos. I have to admit, it's a bigger job than I thought it would be.

Artoo has a bad enough attitude as it is, with just that little cattle prod thing...with a saber...well, at least you have a good alignment. An evil, saber-wielding astromech droid would certainly be a handful. Give me a day or so to find something, and I'll post it!

All:

Yoda's sent me a copy of the constitution. Again, give me a day or so to polish it and I'll post it here for comments before it's ratified.

Good luck and good gaming!

Sorry if I missed that before. :notsure:

I always like to put a plug in for our Allies, the Jedi Republic! :D Good luck on your new blog!

I have been successful in stealing techs from the other AIs, but it usually occurs after I have hit Advanced Intelligence and have researched all of the intelligence techs. Remember, the AI has to have a tech you don't before you can steal anything from them! Usually after I have gotten to Advanced, I drop my intel back to a bare minimum, just to deter those stupid assassination events (which are caused by low espionage).

I never turn intel completely off.

Doh! I know they had at least 10 more than me before I stopped spending so much on it. I also got the infamous disappearing ship bug again. I wonder why that still happens. Anyway, I got 10k points for our empire; I know it is not much compared to the 60k you can get, but every little bit helps, right?

I've also been able to steal techs but not until the last few games or so..

I had reached advanced espionage and had forgoten to lower the spending on that civ... all of a sudden techs started appearing. I had to keep spending above 100. I also think my espoinage was quite high for that round with starbases and research. again ususally I'm so far ahead of the other races on the tech tree there's nothing for me to steal.. in this case I let the dregin get ahead of me while i was dealing with a co-alition attack. the stolen techs saved my butt!!!
When you stole the tech's, did it give you a message that it had happened or did you get the normal 'You have this tech' like when you finish researching it.

A message comes up saying you stole the tech, and the normal Tech message comes up a little bit later.
Dooku,
I've "borrowed" some techs as well. I didn't have to pump a lot of money into it either. I was at Advanced Intel and had several (if not all) espionage techs.
Wonder what my deal was and why I couldnt get them? Can you steal them from allies?

OK, here's Yoda's suggested constitution for the Jedi Republic, with a couple of tweaks. Please comment/suggest; after ratification, I'll post the approved version on the website.

CONSTITUTION OF THE JEDI REPUBLIC
drafted the second rotation of Coruscant GSY 8615

Article I
The Jedi Council

The government of the Jedi Republic shall consist of a Senate known as Jedi Council. This Council shall have supreme authority over all persons in the Jedi Republic. These duties shall include maintenance of membership rosters, promotion and expulsion of Knights from the order, leadership and guidance duties, and any miscellaneous duties not specifically mentioned elsewhere in this document. Any action of this Council shall require a two-thirds majority (2/3) vote of currently active Council members in order to pass, unless otherwise mandated by an ORDER in the Constitution or an ACT in the Bill of Rights.

Article II
Composition of the Jedi Council

The Jedi Council shall consist of one representative for every three persons in the Jedi Order. If at any time membership in the Jedi Republic exceeds 50 persons, the ratio will be modified to one representative for every five persons in the Jedi Order; except that no Council member shall be removed from office to meet this new requirement.

This Jedi Council shall consist of one Head of the Council, at least one Senior Council Member, and other Councilors as necessary to meet the requirements detailed in Article I.

The Head of the Jedi Council will be elected by a vote of current Knights and will serve until the day of their assimilation with the Force, or until the day of their resignation, whichever shall come first. In the event of a resignation, the highest ranking Senior Council Member shall serve as interim Head Counciler until a vote of all active Knights can elect a new Head of the Council.

Senior Council Member(s) are to be appointed as necessary by the Head of the Jedi Council. Duties of Senior Council Members will include temporarily acting with the powers of the Head of the Council in the event of extended absence, resignation, assimilation with the Force, assassination, or any other termination of or interruption of services.

Council Members are to be elected by a vote of current Knights as required to meet the provisions in Article I. Elections shall be held at the beginning each month if required. Additional Special Elections may be held by mandate of the Head of the Jedi Council.

Article III
Jedi Ranks

A Jedi Ranking system shall be established that takes into account the skill level and standing of the majority of currently active Knights. If three-fourths (3/4) of active Jedi reach the highest rank of the current system, a new system will be devised not to exclude the lowest ranking Jedi from the lowest rank of any new system.

Article IV
Supreme Executive Power

No member of the Jedi Order, regardless of position or dire situations, shall be given supreme executive power without a check and balance in human form. All decisions and mandates of the Head of the Council are subject to veto by a 2/3 majority of currently active Council members.

Article V
Procedure for Amendments

Amendments to this Constitution may be made by a 3/4 majority of currently active Jedi Council members.

SIGNED,
Jedi Master Yoda
Founder and first Head of the Council, Jedi Republic

THIS DAY,
the second rotation of Coruscant GSY 8615

I noticed after I had this up and going that the R2 picture has a bit of a halo around it...coincidental, but appropriate. :D
