My choice to come here was deliberate - not intended to play the pranks of last week - witness I (and others!) are still here. Part of that is personal - I admire the republic and its members!; part is for what I see as the good of the metaverse - the top of the empire chart had become static, and many players were feeling that, regardless of their scores, that they didn't matter! The recent moves by various people have bought four empires back into contention for the top of the tree - and will hopefully stimulate some more play.

I hope that Obi will reconsider, as will Kip, but I am here for the long haul, not just a few days! If, however, the majority feel that this is not what they want, cast me out into the void....

Quite simply I joined this empire for the pure fun of it! At 1/2 million pts and FA there's little for me to aim for other than to participate in these forums from time to time until SD either raises the scoring cap or adds new ranks (unlikely in both cases) . . .

Of all the empires yours is the most humble and deserving of recognition . . . imho.

All this talk in other theads about defections and backstabbing are so over dramatic, what does it matter what empire people try so long as it's fun . . .

Incidently, I thank-you for the Amidala photo and profile . . . it looks great! It's very flattering and appealing to my vanity I must admit . . .

Like Alex, I'm here for the long haul too . . . the Metaverse might be more fun if things are a bit more balanced, and with this new pathches more linier (and imho) fairer scoring (1.11), everybodies again able to contribute scores on a more even footing (as it should be) . . .

Put yourself in my place.. you take on a dying empire out of RESPECT, HONOUR and PRIDE..

You start getting it somewhere again.. on the road back to where it was... then 3 players leave.. again (after comming back i might add)

So you swollow yopur pride and tears and keep going.. just to have it happen a second and third time.. then you get told by the person who has done it to you "What does it matter what empire you in" especially after acceopting you back in twice and you stating your renewed LOYALTY to the ANZAC.. and your GREAT contribution's in all aspects of the empire.. I do respect your decision.. after all you are your own mind... and It is up to everyone as to which empire you are in.. But why even bother joining empires if your just going to hop around.. building up empires hopes and desires just to leave them again and kick all the members in that empire a kick in the teeth.. I hope that your not like this in real life..

Whats more is that ppl are now getting to know you as an empire hopper... I'm sure that you never wanted that.

Just imagine that you were running an empire and ppl did it to you... you would also feel sick, used, backstabbed, unliked, kicked in the teeth.... I think that you too would think to yourself whats the use, where's the fun in building up ppls hopes just to pull the rug out from underneath them..

(Sorry jedi's but I just tall it how i see it.. and i certianly hope that no one does this to you.. or any other empire for that matter... I know that I've been trying to get ALL ANZAC overlords back.. but I do respect their wishes and feelings.. Its just a shame that they couldn't show the same loyalty to keep the ANZACs together that they have shown since to their new empire.. I only ask once.. then i let it go.. it is up to the individual.. I asked them to rejoin the ANZACS only because they stated that the reason that they left was that the empire was dying or dead..)

Wow. I had no idea me joining would inspire mass resignations. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised. It's a bit like the way people tend to fake their own deaths rather than sit next to me. I was starting to consider staying and writing some Star Wars themed stories, but if people prefer to think of empires as rigid cliques rather than places where people are free to drop in and visit whenever they wish, perhaps I should be (sniff) going. Maybe I could destroy GROSS by joining it...

The worrying thing is, they're responding to the empire-hopping by hopping empires. If enough people act that way, there could be a massive chain reaction, ultimately resulting in the end of the metaverse as we know it! If I go back now, will that undo the damage I've done, or compound it by adding yet another hop to the equation?

If they wanted a clique empire, they'd have set it to invite-only. I don't think it was just your joining that set people off. Um... unless you haven't paid homage to Star Wars by putting up a huge SW poster in your room. Yoda knows when people don't follow the rules - he has ways.

i think the drama is playing out in GROSS/POSSe/ANZAC matthew - so a move back to the fellowship or not ain't gonna cause a ripple oi reckon.

i think it's a bit of boredom that is the root....rather than angst.

My definition of empire-hopping is jumping around just cause you can. If you want to be a Jedi, by all means stick around. If, later on, you actually want to join another empire, go for it.

You asked for the best way to avoid being seen as an empire-hopper. That proves you're not one.

I have done in the past.
I joined the Fellowship because the scores were interestingly close and mine was, at the time, just enough to put them in first place ahead of GROSS. And then I got interested in the Evil Ray storyline. And it was (and still is) a friendly place. But the Evil Ray plot ground to a halt, and the Fellowship got so far ahead it made the metaverse seem less interesting.


The fact that I said this was only temporary rather suggests that I am one.

I thought maybe when I came here, people would be, like, "Stay! The Force is strong with this one!" And then maybe Ray would be, like, "No, rejoin the Fellowship! The Ring is stronger!" And I'd be, like, "I'll never rejoin you! You killed my father!" And he'd be, like, "No. I AM your father." And I'd be, like, "Nooooooooooooo!"

I am happy that you have decided to stick around. I am prepared to give you command of your own Star Destroyers or whatever you like in your fleet.

I am sorry that you're arrival has triggered a couple of people to leave in protest. I think it happened because there has been a lot of empire hopping and members of the Republic were afraid that we were the latest target of the prank. You are still welcome.

I still haven't decided. Can I get one of those cool Land Speeders like Luke drove on Tatooine?

Gang, don't get upset about jumping empires! Just like in the game, there exists a certain amount of culture flipping.

I've said all along that if you're bored, go somewhere that you'll be happy and have fun with the game. Getting upset at people for wanting to go where they'll have the most fun is counterproductive for the entire Metaverse.

Good luck and remember, the doors of the Fellowship are always open for everyone!

Lets hope that those that came will really stay. This a good empire and I hope that we are not the result of some prank. :notsure:
