A few seconds later...
The Freedom Force Avatar's engines began to wind up with a deep-throated rumble that contrasted sharply with the high-pitched whines of Coruscant's normal air traffic. The rumble was almost loud enough to drown out the sound of a banging on the outer hatch. Almost.
With a grumble, Bakka yelled out, "Hey, Computer?"
"What do you want this time?"
"Somebody wants in. Hold the engines and open the door!"
"Turn on the engines. Turn off the engines. Open the door. Close the door. Water the rhododendrons. Brew me a pot of tea..."
The hatch hissed open, and Obi-Wan stepped onto the deck. He glanced around sheepishly, despite the fact that Bakka was clearly the only sentient in view. He was clearly holding something behind his back. "Hey, 'mate.' Didn't want you to leave without first...well...I knew Yoda wouldn't approve..."
"Spit it out, man!"
The Knight shifted his weight uncomfortably from one foot to the other. "Well, those micro-bots of yours could have been working on patching up your ship instead of keeping that undead war-wagon busy. And if your ship was fixed, you couldv'e taken off pretty quickly. That would've left me in a pretty uncomfortable position, Force or no Force.
"So, I thought I'd return a favor or two. You did ask for a pint, didn't you?"
Obi-Wan brought out the package from behind his back - a 6-pack of Foster's. "It's not much," he explained sheepishly. "KitWarrior left it behind the last time he visited the Jedi Council to train one of our 'dark-siders.' He doesn't think Coruscant beer is worth stealing and usually brings his own."
Bakka smiled. Seeing an oversized bat smile sometimes sends a confusing signal; it's not what one usually associates with a happy face. Fortunately, Obi-Wan's sensitivity to the Force allowed him to figure out the intention.
"Thanks. By the way, what's up with the war preparations and training 'Dark Siders?' Thought you Jedi were big on peaceful co-existence?"
Obi-Wan sighed. "Master Yoda has foreseen the future - well, one POSSIBLE future, anyway. A great War is coming - The War of the Worlds - and we must be ready. Yoda has us doing calisthenics at 4:00 AM, and anyone who can use the Force will be needed for the fight. Which brings up another point.
"You're going to be in dangerous places ahead. I'm not Yoda, but even I can see that much. You may not always be in this fantastic ship, or out in space where those bots can help you. If you're in a tight spot on the ground, this might come in handy."
Obi-Wan tossed the surprised bat a lightsaber.
"It used to belong to my apprentice, but he kept losing it. He's working on a new one now - says he likes red better. Anyway, thought you could use it."
"Thanks, mate!" Bakka exclaimed. He depressed a button on the ergonomic handle. The brilliant beam of light popping out of the end of the saber nearly hit him in the ear. Fortunately, it harmlessly punched into one of the subwoofers for the sound system.
"HEY!" complained the computer. Bakka noticed that, restricted to tweeter and midrange, the computer voice sounded more whiny than smug.
"Er...you might want to work on your swordplay a bit..." murmured Obi-Wan, as he quickly backed up toward the open hatch. "Happy trails!"
