Just as a one-stop-shop recap, here's the rundown on tomorrow's Jedi Council reshuffling:

1. KEmperor and Admiral Sherbert have stated that they are willing to serve. Anyone who is interested can still speak up through tomorrow.

2. The Council is currently capped at 8. A proposal has been made to expand this to 10. Yoda is still pondering the proposal.

3. Sephlock and Tarkin are apparently MIA, in that order. If we need more than the two expansion seats, or if Yoda feels that the Council should not expand, they would be returned to Overlord status and given the honorary "absentee" rank of Senior Council Advisor - see Aadik Shekar on our website. Of course, if they return, they can have their old seats back.

4. That makes 2-4 seats up for grabs, total.

5. Anyone who chooses to run for the available slots must be confirmed by the current Council, as per Yoda's earlier post.

6. Finally, based on his activity in just about every thread on the Forums, as well as on a frequent submission schedule, I nominate KEmperor for the post of Senior Council Member. If Qui-Gon and I are gonna be running this place while Yoda's in school, we need some help. Confirmation on this one is up to Yoda, if KEmperor makes it to the Senate.

Whew! Good luck to the candidates. Good times for the Jedi.

Thanks. Good luck to you, KEmperor, too, on both a seat and on getting Senior Council Member.

Ok, 2 things to post:

1)Is it just me, or did Apolyton just gain a bunch of points? I mean, we're in no real danger from them right now, but still.

2)How exactly does this council election take place? Does everyone just post on this thread and say who they're voting for? Since there are 2 spots open, should we vote twice? What are the rules?

KEmperor,

Lots of scoring changes in the past week for everybody. I think that there's a natural inclination for people to try out the expansion pack. Because of the monthly block scoring system, the empires that are dominated by those who haven't posted in awhile are seeing the biggest impact. Let's see what happens in another week or so...

Regarding the Council elections, they've been pretty ad-hoc in the past - no absolute set of rules. One was a general election; another was decided by fiat by Yoda. As far as I can tell from Yoda's current posts, he intends for the Senate to have to confirm anybody that announces they're a candidate, leaving us to decide if somebody's in. Fine by me. But if we have more candidates than slots, it gets dicey. Let's see what he has to say tomorrow (later today? ack - time to get some sleep!).

Looks like the extended training session on Dagobah is over. The Jedi are out in "Force" these days! :)

2003 Jedi Council Electorate
Greetings, welcome you I do to the 2003 suplemental election for Jedi Council. After extensively pondering the proposal by Obi, I have come to the conclusion that the Jedi Council's size be decided by population (OT much like the House of Reps). This will be based on a system of 3's (Honor, Peace and the Force). For every 3 people in the order, another seat is added to the council (Jedi / 3). For example, there are currently 33 people in the Jedi Order. Therefore, after this election, 11 Jedi will be on the Jedi Council. This will allow for better rotation of Jedi Council members. Elections will be held whenever a counciler is absent for a duration longer than three (3) months OR when there is enough Jedi in the Order to warrant another seat on the Jedi Council.

First, the rules and procedure for the election:

Rules and Procedures
1. The election voting time is three (3) days following the start of the election.

2. Any Jedi currently in the Order is eligeble for the Jedi Council, however, there is a mandetory minimum of one-hundred (100) Metaverse Points (MP) required to serve on the council (this is intended to root out those not interested in staying active; authorized exceptions can be made).

3. You cannot vote for yourself

And finally:

4. * Nominee MUST be confirmed by 2/3 majority of the current council members. *

There are three seats available for new Council members. NOTE: NO CURRENT COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE TO BE REPLACED IN THIS ELECTION.

:CONGRAT: May the race Begin! :CONGRAT:

OK, Jedi. That means that the election is to be three days from today. At least that puts us ahead of the California recall vote. As all voting is tallied electronically, no "chad" issues are expected to gum up the works.

Current nominees are KEmperor and Admiral Sherbert. Any others are welcome to announce their candidacy at this time.

Just to make things lively, any campaign speeches would be welcome! :)

Obi, just a suggestion, but if its possible, could you put a news posting page on the JR site so that our members can post there own news stories? Thanks

Welcome to our newest recruit, Black Shade! As you're finding your way around the halls here in the Jedi temple, don't forget to check out our website: http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/jedi_republic

As your experience qualifies you for the rank of Chosen One, you're eligible for a custom lightsaber handle and color for your player profile on the website. A couple of ideas are posted here: http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/jedi_republic/sabers1.jpg If you have something really creative in mind, just send me an image by email at [email protected].

You've joined up at an interesting time for the Jedi Republic. An election of new council members is scheduled for this Thursday, 9/25.

Sadly, this isn't possible at the moment, with the structure of Angelfire's hosting. Any Jedi who feels like writing a news story can just copy and paste the text into an email, and send it to me here: [email protected] I'm updating the site on a daily basis, so the news shouldn't have a chance to get stale.

Interesting side note: With Black Shade joining us, we now have three Knights with the rank of "Chosen One." That makes a Chosen Three. Is this "Star Wars" or "Charmed"?!?

KEmperor:

A few pages back, Berserk74 said that he wasn't interested in running. I think he mentioned that his schedule was going to be limited for awhile; that probably accounts for his reluctance.

Personally, I'm all for the idea, but unless we hear differently from Berserk, we should respect his wishes. We have a lot of new members around here; anyone is welcome to make a run for the Senate, regardless of length of service to the Jedi. If memory serves, I was only in for about a week! Ah...so long ago...

Well, of course. I was just trying to comvince him otherwise, he's on the forums a lot.

Welcome to Black Shade, our newest member. Interesting choice of name for someone with a good smiley.

Wow, with Black Shade joining, we sure r gaining on the Canadian Star Federation...

Regarding the election, do we just post who we want to vote for here or...? :notsure:

Welcome, Black Shade. Excellent job on those games. Also, welcome LORD NIKACK.

If no one else decides to run for the council, does the council or Jedi Master Yoda just appoint someone to fill the slot? Or does that slot just remain open?

Obi Wan, I just submitted a new mod to the Library concerning Jedi. Would you like it to put on the website?

Wow; just went to the Jedi web page and glanced at all the members. Impressive! Great job on the pages Obi Wan.

Welcome to the Jedi, LORD NIKNAK. In Kit's absence, KEmperor, as our ranking Sith, it looks like you have a new recruit to train in the ways of the Dark Side.

Yoda's filled the slot in the past. Usually, this isn't an issue, but we're seeing some scheduling lately among the Jedi that's wreaking a bit of havoc with the election.

That's the implication, as Yoda suggested that people shouldn't vote for themselves. But he also said that the Council needed to confirm new members. Hmmm... you expect the little guy to be logical, now? :)

I think this is a good idea - on Thursday, send your votes to Yoda at [email protected] That lets us keep the whole "secret ballot" idea. Also lets Yoda keep track of who still needs to respond. If he still wants the Senate to confirm the winners, he can post it here. Sound fair?

Admiral Sherbert, the only mod of yours that I'm seeing is the "Weather Control Pack" back on 8/25. Let me know if this is the one you want on the website. If you just submitted another new one, it may take awhile for the devs to approve and post it. I'll keep an eye peeled for it, but if you see it there first please let me know.
