How did KEmperor get 100% of the vote?
End of quote

There were 3 positions open, thus each person got to vote for 3 people. 100% of the voters voted for KEmperor along with 2 other candidates.

I still think we should have divided the number of votes by the square root of something or other, but hey, that's just me.

Rules and Procedures

1. The election voting time is three (3) days following the start of the election.

2. Any Jedi currently in the Order is eligeble for the Jedi Council, however, there is a mandetory minimum of one-hundred (100) Metaverse Points (MP) required to serve on the council (this is intended to root out those not interested in staying active; authorized exceptions can be made).

3. You cannot vote for yourself

And finally:

4. * Nominee MUST be confirmed by 2/3 majority of the current council members. *
End of quote

This says you cannot vote for yourself. I'm sorry to be accusing anyone;it really dosen't matter.

You want a conspiracy theory? How's this?

8 people voted, so there should be 24 senate votes (since each one voted 3 times)

Kemperor: PASSED 100% - 8 votes
Numbtenor21: PASSED 75% - 6 votes
Admiral Sherbert: PASSED 75% - 6 votes
Berkerk: FAILED 37.5% - 3 votes

That adds up to 23 votes. Where's the last vote?

That's probably me, I only voted for two since I got confused by this post:

Drunk post at 2:54am. Be warned:

Heh heh, heh, paranoia runs rampant as a I get 100% of the vote. To set the record straight, I did not vote for myself. I assume that 100% simply means that everyone who did vote other than me voted for me. I'm honored, but not humbled, because I am a Sith of course. My gratitude to all who voted for me, you will be rewarded handsomely in holding to Sith tradition.

Welcome to the Jedi Republic, FunkyFlyBilly. I am pleased to see another Sith in the ranks. Hmm, as the ranking Sith it looks like my training schedule is busy these days. However, I am glad that the dark side is gaining strength within the republic. Soon we will be a true "Empire"

PS: Due to my inebriated state, it took me about 2 minutes to type out the word "another" above.

KEmperor, Sherbert and numbtenor21:

Congrats on your new positions as Senators in the Jedi Council. With any luck, those of us already there can foist off our paperwork and other duties on you guys and crack open a beer.

As Admiral Sherbert has already pointed out, Yoda wants the Council to be 1/3 the size of the complete Jedi Republic. As we're now at 36, that leaves room for one more; I officially second Admiral Sherbert's motion to appoint Berserk74 to the post, as he already has multiple votes in the current election.

And we're now at 36 Jedi because of the addition of FunkyFlyBilly. Welcome aboard! The Sith are multiplying, it seems...Real Life is intervening today, but I will try to get your player profile onto the Jedi Republic website by tomorrow evening, along with the other changes. In the meantime, do check out what's up there already: http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/jedi_republic

And Wombie, welcome to Honorary Jedi status!

i must ask your forgiveness since i failed to vote.
my only excuse aside from having other matters allowed to take my mind off this important election, is that i yet do not know the honorable nominees well enough to try to influence the outcome with my vote.

again, i cry your pardon.

I second the motion to move to accelerate the arrival of the senator in transit.

Um... what Obi said. :)

Morbutor:

It looks like we're going to be having these elections on a regular basis at this point. Why not consider running in the next one? You're certainly active, and length of service isn't a job requirement.

Hello, fellow Jedi/Sith knights, I've been very busy with the job lately. Looks like I missed lots of stuff. I see the election is going on now, I don't mind losing an election but I don't recall I ever wanted to running for senate. LOL I'm happy with where I stand. I've been playing GC for 3 months and now I got too much real life work to catch up. But I'll be back when every thing's settled.

P.S. Thanks for your concern Obi Wan.

THE ORDER

Wild Wombat looked out of the transport's window as it approached the Jedi Council Great Hall. Coruscant's traffic flow was ceaseless, but today the traffic seemed to move in slow motion. Nervous and excited, he watched as the Great Hall finally grew larger and the transport set down opposite the main entrance. He rushed inside, to be greeted by Qui-Gonn Jinn, waiting patiently at the reception desk.

"Greetings, Wild One." intoned the Jedi master. "Today is a great day...I trust your trip was pleasant?"

"Indeed, Master Qui-Gonn. Recgnition from the Jedi is a great honour...I shall do my best to prove myself worthy of the friendship of the Jedi." Wombat looked around wonderingly at the high arched ceilings of the Great Hall. "Long have I wondered about the Jedi Order. Um...do I get to be someone's Paddle-Pop?"

"That's PADAWAN, and NO, you are not actually entering the Jedi order." said the Jedi in a slightly exasperated tone. "You will receive the honourary membership from Master Yoda himself. Perhaps you would like to observe some of our traiing in action? Yes? Follow me."

With that, Qui-Gonn led Wombat through a large set of double doors that opened into a long corridor. Wombat suddenly froze. He looked carefully at the doorway.

Qui-Gonn glanced back at Wombat. " Something troubles you, Wild One?"

"This door...it is white on this side...but it's DARK on the other side! I know what this means...I've heard Obi talk about this all the time! Wow! Even the decor has a DARK side!"

"It was a simple interior design decision, Wombat, nothing to do with the order. We...er...moved in here after one of the local football teams relocated. They wore black and white striped jumpers, if I recall."

"Mmm...of course." Wombat nodded his head knowingly and smiled.

Qui-GOnn shook his head and strode swiftly down the corridor. He stopped outside a small chamber, and motioned to the still figures of Obi-Wan and Master Yoda, meditating and murmuring in low voices inside. "Obi-Wan and Master Yoda have practised this ritual together for years. None of us know what it is, but we all respect their devotion." Qui-Gonn moved off further down the corridor, but Wombat quietly snuck back and put his ear to the glass window. He could just make out their soft voices:

"You are old, Master Yoda" Obi-Wan said
"And your hair has become very white;
And yet you incessantly levitate on your head -
Do you think, at your age, it is right?"

"In my youth," Master Yoda replied to Obi-Wan,
"I feared it might injure the brain;
But, now that I'm perfectly sure I have none,
Why, I do it again and again."

The two broke into giggles of laughter. Wombat backed slowly away and scurried down the corridor to catch up with Qui-Gonn.

At that moment, a dark hooded figure swished past Qui-Gonn and Wombat, giving a curt nod to the Jedi master. "Who was that?" asked Wombat.

Qui-Gonn sighed. "The Jedi Order maintains an open policy to all...even those who follow the dark path. KEmperor is a valuable member of the organisation, even though some think he can't count properly. I mean, there's only supposed to be TWO Sith, but now everybody wants a piece of the action. Anyway, he is a..a...well - we have a code which swops the letters within words, like 'stop' becomes 'sotp'; you can use that to translate er, unpleasant titles."

Wombat concentrated fiercely, frowning. His eyes widened. "You mean...he's a Arkd Dorl of the Shit! How can a Dorl of the Shit be part of the Jedi Order!"

The Jedi master looked down at Wombat. "These days...we take all sorts."

Qui-Gonn led Wild Wombat to the central dais of the Great Hall. The Jedi had assembled and Master Yoda stood in the centre of the group holding a gold medallion. He motioned for Wombat to step forward.

"Pleased we are, this day, to welcome our friend Wild Wombat to honorary membership of the Order." Yoda drew himself up to his full height and stepped towards Wombat. In doing so, it was apparent he was 0.01 mm taller than Wombat.

"You're wearing platform shoes!" hissed Wombat.

"Such things, I wear not!" whispered back Yoda crossly. "Great care, you take, lest you find this medallion TOO tight a fit, if you know what I mean!"

The ceremony proceeded smoothly, and Wild Wombat was duly welcomed into the ranks of the honourary Jedi. A celebration followed and Wombat received his true initiation - they taught him the Jedi Drinking Song, known only to members of the Order.

[A gift for my Jedi friends! And apologies to Lewis Carroll. Aw hell, I may as well just apologise for the whole thing.]

Hmm, since we are growing at a fairly strong rate, the 3:1 ratio plan means that a new Council position is opening up every couple of days. Perhaps we should set a schedule for elections and recalc senate positions before each one. This would make it organized. Just a suggestion.

You mean have a list of candidates set in order? I'm not sure how this would work, although I agree we need some kind of organization or we'll have to start a "political" thread just to keep up with the changes.

Welcome to the Jedi Republic, Gunner 243.

I've begun to work some of our more significant changes into the Jedi Republic website. First up is the addition of player profiles for our two newest members, FunkyFlyBilly and Gunner243, as well as "housekeeping" changes because of new submissions. Check out the latest changes at http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/jedi_republic

Next up will be the changes to the Jedi Council page and Wild Wombat's addition to the Honorary Jedi page. Yoda, can we assume that these changes have been confirmed after the election? I think it's fair to move things right along, especially if we're going to need another election soon.

As for the constitution, Yoda, drop me a line anytime to let me know what you have in mind. So that we don't get bogged down in elections all the time, I think it might be better to just set the first day of each month as "election day" and go from there. That gives us a couple of days to get ready to fill the one empty seat.

That election was almost as much fun as a European election brawl.
