Let's break this bribery thing down a bit. A lot of folks in my empire are into recruiting, but so are others in other empires. Whether it is in chat or on the board, recruiting is a fact of life. It comes down to sucking up the losses and moving on. Heck, GROSS has lost a few over the last couple of months, but we do not cry over spilt milk, so to speak. That act is getting a bit old. So before anyone casts stones to prove who is aggressively recruiting who, let he who has not recruited cast the first stone. And don't forget that the most impressive recruiters of all right now are not pirates!

When I first joined an Empire it was the ANZACs purely because of where I live.. I posted a few times and it was only Cotal and Slitehrin at the time who posted anything on this thread.. I also noticed some posters from GROSS and checked out their threads and found that I had more in common in terms of their attitude and sense of fun than was in the ANZACs.

Referring to the post of yours above, at no point in time did anybody from GROSS covertly email or take me into a chat room to try and get me to join their empire, it was initiated by myself..

Lets face it we all make comments about joining empires because we sense a sort of kinship with certain people.

Anyway, I've been away for a couple of days and it looks like a lot of shit has hit the fan recently on several post.. Don't mean to stir anything up, but felt that giving too much crap to Pontius isn't right.

Now the Pludits, Congrats to you Blue for becoming a Veteran, and well done Cotal, great story writing, see I told you you could do it when i was covertly trying to get you to come over to the POSSe.... Doh.

None on my msgs were pointed at pontous until he confronted me about things.. it was a general plot Pirates being pirates will always (well nearly.. there are exceptions) sink to any level to attaijn their goals... and GROSS,POSS are no different.. neither am i for that matter... if they can take then they should be able to give... oops... or is that the other way round... that wombat mixes a mean drink.. i'm still under the influence from the party last night...

As for the bribery stuff, the only thing that really annoyed me on the ring thread was the suggestion that everyone in the posse was paid off somehow. I switched over to the posse later than the others only cause I was away working for a month. When I got back, I read everything I'd missed, then I switched over. I don't have any hard feelings about anything going on here, btw, I've been involved in a lot worse in other games. Buy me a beer, come sit close to the fireplace, and I'll tell you some stories of treachery and back-stabbing on the dark and lonely sea...

Ah, Bradley getting back into an empire again. Interesting indeed. As for the Euros, even though they don't come out of their manors that often these days, it will still be a long climb unless further recruitment aids the ANZAC cause.

Has anyone else noticed that there are a lot more replys / msgs in the forum of late.

Its just taken me 3 hours to catch up from last night.

the oldest msg on the first page of the forum is only 22hours old (since last reply to it)

and most of the everyday threads have had multiple updates as i've been reading.. and i've had to go back and re-read most of them at least 3 times in 3 hours.. sheesh.. no wonder i havn't had time to play a game yet... LOL

'Nemo Me Impune Lacessit!' he repeated again now waving his fist defiantly to conclude his speech to the masses gathered at the Crystal Coliseum on Anderson. There was probably over two million citizens at the rally not a bad turn out considering the losses suffered by the old colony after the Blitz of Derigen through the embattled sector.

'How was I Evil?' he inquired of his first mate as he made his way from the podium.

'Well your Latins a bit rusty Sir, but I think the fist waving got you over the line' replied Evil Steve theatricaly kissing his be-loved Emperor on each cheeck in the European manner to further frenzy the elated crowd.

'HA! Well it worked for Lord Orpan! I thought I'd just throw it in too . . . his delivery stinked! HA!' Blue said as he turned again towards the audience this time waving both fists.

'Very good Cap-itan . . . now lets not over do it, remember you did have some help' Evil said whilts still carrying on like an academy award extra.

'Whats it mean anyway' Blue asked Evil as he returned to the podium to take a bow befor the now all up-standing crowd.

'- No one injures us with impunity - Sir' replied Evil joining his Leader front and center.

'HA!' recoiled Blue

'Thats right! Impotence! Now that hits a nerve in us all!' Blue surmized.

'Huh!' exclaimed Evil. Fortunately for them the podium's microphone was now off and they reveled in the hysteria.

Anderson

Anderson was a beautiful planet twice the size of Sol. . . Its once ammonia soaked surface that made the planet unsuitable for colinization had long since been neutralized by the bio-nad (nitrogen fixing) organisms released by the Pre-cursor device discovered by the first colonists. For the humans it seemed like a God-send! Thier early years of colinization outside of their own system would have been deemed a complete failure had it not been for their settlment on Anderson.

Pointius was no stranger to public speaking, his extensive self-education and well known political background put him at a great advantage over the other speakers . . . not to mention the 'mood enhancing' device he had installed on his ship in orbit over Anderson squarely focused on the throng befor him.

He sat there rather perplexed by the Australian's speech but felt somehow moved all the same . . . He quickly dismissed the feeling. Just befor he rose to speak he tapped his sercet communicator on . . .

'Ewa reAa eadyRa owNa!' he wispered into his lappel pretending to dust lint from his expensive jacket.

'BZZT Whatz that Chief? How'd we do? -over- ' the little speaker in the top button of his tuxedo replied.

'HatWa oDa ouYa eanMa?' he answered as he stood up accepting his invitation to the podium.

'BZZT We cranked the Mood Enhancer right up chief! I can hear the cheerin Boss! Blew a few circuits but I figured you wouldn't mind . . . hehe. It being such an important speech and all -over- ' continued the technicians voice through the tiny speaker.

'You Mean You've already USED IT!' he answered as he was ushered into position for his speech . . .

. . . . . Upon seeing the great Pointius the Crowd suddenly Settled . . . . .


'YOU'RE ALL IDIOTS!' screamed Pointius into the microphone.

The crowd responded swiftly! The stage and speaker being pelted with every concievable item of hard clothing imaginable.

In the shower of Shoes, Boots and Stilettos Pointius stood his ground until the Security (fearing for his personal safty ofcourse) escorted the shaken Emperor from the stage.

I have a question on Empire scoring. What is the formula to get the total?
For instance - we are 13K behind the Euro guys. So what individual scores would we have to tally up to get past them?
And how does Cotal churn out all those Huge games? I am officially in awe. I've only managed one Huge game and couldn't keep track of everything!
Staying home tonight to watch the Collingwood/Essondon game so may fire up a game in the background and give it a go.
