ANZAC closed Debriefing:

A lot has happened in the last 2 days
With the active recruiting, espionage, sabotage, and Rescue branches

at least 3 (that i know of at this point in time) of our X-Compatriots who decided to try it alone in their budding empire FF, have been persuaded to join GROSS. Our Emporer has just returned from being M.I.A and looks the worse for ware.. However He is alright. {BlueSteel nods towards Worty} GROSS also attempted to gain the services of another of our Collegues "Slitherin" however they were able to return to us {BlueSteel notions towards Slitherin} glad to have you both back..

Our Anti GROSS Propaganda seems to have had a limited effect so far..

Our Ranking in the MetaVerse has jumped back up to 7th thanks to the Return of our mates and myself..
This isn't enough to play a major role in the Multiverse Federated Empire Council.. so we need more Influence out there in the Metaverse

Spread the word to recruit Overlords.. All we need are Overlords who are capable of posting a score at least once a month and then we'll be right back up there with the elite.

Our HQ is now this ship we are now sinning in . "The ANZAC Space Ship", "The A.S.S." {bluesteel looks around to see if there are any smirks from the ranks... of which he is please to see that there are none} . "The ASS (Donkey,Mule,JackASS} was fundimental at Galipolli in the rescue of injured our mates in arms from the front line.. so she is aptly named..

Remember the ANZACS.. "Lest we forget" , let them be an insperation to us all in our Galactic Adventures

We can't seem to come to terms about the flag.. Also One of the Australian republic is yet to respond. Also waiting for the emperor to sign the document and disband his empire and join up.. once all these things have taken place the celebrations will begin.. Diplomacy is very time consuming and tiring. Thwart with danger .. one wrong word and its back to square one.. or even worse all out war

Hmm, Wombie's taking the side of Rainbird again... Put those glasses on! :D

The icon is not a big deal but at the same time not a trival matter either. I've seen quite a few cases where people join an empire because they liked the icon. But I'm sure you guys could work out a nice compromise once you become part of the same family. The icon can always be changed subsequently when someone comes up with a better idea.

Well actually there is no harm in changing your name as you can always change it back if it falls through. I seriously don't think it will fall through just because of an icon.

A wise person once said that the best way to mediate a deal is to come up with an arrangement that leaves both sides unhappy. With that in mind, I suggest that you both disband your empires and join the posse.

Looks like the hammering out part of the details hasn't been done quite yet. Geez, these Aussies are gluttons for punishment. After a long brawl over the role of the emperor, now we move onto round 2 of the brawl, fighting over symbolism. Then we have the aftermath of rousing the unconscious and punch drunk to get their final opinions, unless some other pressing matter of king, country, or honor takes the fight into overtime. :p

Hehe, didn't mean to diss your art there, it's a lot better than anything I could've done. It's hard thinking up ideas that look good in 16x16 - boxing kangaroo would be nice, but all you'd see would be pixels...

Jeff, I see that you play MASO. Do you have any good advice for playing on Medium or smaller maps ? I am trying to win my first MASO but I am having TOO many difficulties.

Hey Newfy,
I haven't won on Medium yet. I can give you some great advice on how to get your arse kicked on medium though. :)

First advice is to play either Tiny/Small/Gigantic on Maso. They are the "easiest". Medium is the hardest for me.

On Tiny or Small take Speed as your race pick. I took +2 and used my other 2 pts for Economy or Diplomacy (but depends on your playing style). The +2 speed means that on smaller maps, even though AI can produce more colony ships than you, you can get to the systems first.
Also with the speed edge, rather than build up a big military, I kept a small fast fleet (Corvettes/Frigates - depending on tech researched) out of orbit and used it to attack transports and then retreat. Their battleships and dreadnaughts can't do anything to you if they can't catch you. Got this advice from Ray and co, and it's some of the best strat advice I have received on here. I also didn't bother with starbases as they kept getting destroyed anyway! So I basically had no targets for the AI to hit as long as I could take out his transports.

On the bigger maps pay lots of attention to the relations screen. I used to think the only way to avoid the AI declaring war was to have a decent sized military, but all my recent games I haven't built a ship (apart from one battleaxe per system) until I have gotten to Avatar or Overlord tech.
I always keep all relations at Neutral or above using gifts and/or morale alignment.
If the AI made reasonable demands (eg 1000bc if I had 20K) then I would pay. If it was unreasonable, I would refuse and let the relation drop a level, then give them a tech that they wouldn't use against me (like a cultural one) and relations would jump up TWO levels.
Because I had no military I had no ship maintenance costs so more cash for me. I could also keep my military slider fairly low and churn out constructors slowly but steadily. This meant more money for research, so more techs to bribe the AI to a) keep them happy and b) keep them at war with each other.
I get on good terms with the strongest race, and then bribe them to attack the others. If I see 2 AIs in an alliance, I bribe one to attack someone and that pulls their partner into war as well at no cost to me.
The only time this didn't work was in my last game. The Dregs were the most powerful, and after awhile, no matter how many bribes I gave them, the relation kept dropping towards Hostile as I had no military at all and they saw me a juicy target. So I had to start churning out Antimatter missles to get my attack rating up.

When I am ready to make my move - I can switch to ships, or if the AI is too powerful, I send all those constructors I have been building to empty adjacent segments and build party palaces and start flipping their systems until the balance comes back into my favour.
Anyway they are kind of lame weird tactics I know. But it works for me on maso. So basically use speed on the small maps, and use dimplomacy/bribes on the bigger maps.
