The Illuminati Lodge

ok, here it is, the Illuminati communication thread!

a lot of people has been asking when we will put one up, so, here it is. we have finally made it to the galactic map (thanks to Treylis for his high scores), and one of our members has made it to the top 10 players (again, thank you Treylis).

things to discuss:

1) get hold of Treylis
2) find ways to get more recruits
3) find things to talk about in our thread! (im serious) LOL

I see, Nand, try go over metaverse then register player. There it has something like put down your dregin net number then convert it. I don't have dregin net so don't know much about it, but I think I saw something similar thread somewhere in the forum.

Ty Beserk. I just converted it, and I'm gonna try submitting the games.

They worked :)

I just finished a game. It gave me about 4000 mv points, yet only gave our empire around 2500. Not fair.... Should've gotten 4000 points for the empire as well.

But then again life is never fair so...... ;p

Hey!

Beserk, you've nearly caught up with our invisible leader!

I think we are at a distinct disadvantage due to lack of players in our empire. The other teams in the top ten have a minimum of 28 players, we have 6. Our main rival below us has 14...

Hey, you should be happy we have 6. I know some others *coughevilempire* that have much less.

Lmao, but they got such a good, active players. I think it's just a matter of time they get big.

I'm trying to recruit more people to our empire, but seems not working well. We need more recruiter.

Apolygon's not submitting much games lately so if we work hard, we could take them down.

GammaSquad is getting bigger scores everyday, running away from us. Their leading scorer Solitair and TheoLeo is submitting enormous amounts of scores.

CDG Creations which is ranked right below us is not strong enough to take us I think. Mayito is working hard on scores but seems like he is the only one.

Our most concern would be our dear friend Taco's Evil empire. They are getting bigger every week. Congratulate on the ssssssucccccessssssss!!!!!!!!!

Well Berserk you asked me to take a look at Illuminati but wheres the story or leader? And what does " Ad Astra Per Aspera" mean? As for the leader, is he military?I"ve been playing couple weeks now and am deciding which empire to join.Ya'll make your pitch.
PS I'm also a modder and have one new addition to library with another uploaded and waiting approval.
Thanks Berserk for the initial guidance into modding and have since been helped quit abit by Hawaii5o.
He gave some good advice and now I can really put together mods quick. Also interested in doing some ships but mutil kinda steep learning curve.

Well pitch away!!

I'll just remind the esteemed conpirators of the Illuminati that the dreaded Space Arachnids held a spot in the top 10 for the longest time with a mere seven members! You do not need 20 odd members. 10 active people could put you in the running for the top 5 in little time.

Oh. mikey, never ask for pitches. You might get some wild ones now from all sorts of weird people like Jedi, Ring worshippers, and my pirate fellows as well as others. Nothing beats research. Spend a little time digging through empire threads to see who is compatible with your interests and play style. You don't need to read every thread from beginning to end, but the last few pages of each should give you some idea. Take your time and look around over several days.

I have been.Thats why I gave first crack to berserk for helping me out early in my debut as a galciv player.I have read several threads and am working my way up the ladder slowly but surely.I read threads couple times aday looking for advice on playing harder and harder levels.I want to depose wandering rays top spot but looks like that could take long time.Maybe a couple of days at most!!! LOL Just kidding maybe ray would have to quit for couple months to even have a crack at that. :notsure:

Ya know, I don't think Illuminati ever got a story going. You've got a lot of contributing members, I'm sure one of you can come up with an interesting story to start it off!

I still want to know what "Ad Astra Per Aspera" means. That could make all the difference in recruiting. At least other clubs put their motto in English!
It means "To the stars through difficulties" or something like that. You can google it.
Yes, I think I had a conversation with the Illuminatis a while back about that, when we were pushing for them to get their own thread!

Hi mickeydsc thanks for visiting our thread. As for ad astra per aspera, I have absolutely no clue what so ever that means. It probably means what Ray says it means. As for our leader Treylis, he's MIA. LMAO...
The Illuminati is a very small empire, yet we ranked at 10th in metaverse.

I honestly don't know much about Illuminati... I have joined this empire about a month ago. I like Illuminati very much not because it's ranked 10th, nor it's compact with active players, but because in Illuminati, nobody gives damn about what you do. We don't dictate our members to act certain ways, or behave certain ways, or rank our members certain ways. We are as good as one.

We will be very glad if a good player such as yourself could join our empire. I would be clad to share my tactics. My advice to selecting an empire is don't spend too much time looking over all the empires. If you feel you wanna join, then just join it's your fate. lmao... Anyway, try to look for a smaller empire, big guys usually have lots of good players, and they are proud. On the other hand smaller empire, with your score now, they will do everything to keep you in their empire. So, it's totally up to you.

OMG......... Somebody save me..... :sniff!:

P.S Ah... those golden age... please give back my childhood.

The illuminati is a group who origins are shrouded in mystery. In 18th Century Bavaria, an occultist/mystic by then name of Adam Weishaupt found a secret society called 'The Ancient and Illuminated Seers of Bavaria'. The objective of this organisation was to replace the monotheistic monarchies of Europe with secular democratic governments. This was to be the first stage in a secret agenda of individualism and anti-authoritarianism.

The King of Germany however discovered the sect after one of its members was struck by lightning carrying important and secret documents. What illuminati weren't executed fled to france. Shortly aftwards the French revolution occurred, followed by the US declaration of independance. As Europe slowly turned secular, new factions of the illuminati sprang up to acheive various aspects of the second stage of illuminati objectives...

Yet there is still more to the name illuminati. The name is linked to 'illumination', and therefore 'enlightenment'. But is also connected to 'Gnosis' in the sense that to shed light on something is to gain insight/knowledge of it. Some also say it is a reference to Lucifer, whose name means the 'lightbringer', but if this is so, then it would be a reference to the Gnostic Lucifer and not the christian devil.

That is a snap-shot of the real illuminati as it appears from the start of the 21st century.

I propose that a story for this empire in the metaverse should build on that, putting us a hidden force that manipulates human civilisation from behind the scenes to further our objectives throughout the galaxy, whether those objectives are for good or evil (or both, traditionally the illuminati is non-dualistic and so would do as it pleases.)

Oh and I wasn't getting depressed about only having six members, just pointing out how well we are doing considering...

Anton, you are da man... You should be in senet. Ho Ho Ho...... That's only if our invisible leader returns to metaverse.

Well, I have him on my ICQ contact list, but so far whenever I've checked he has been listed as an offline contact.

I presume he is still using the ICQ address listed on his website link from the illuminati empire page.

Why don't you guys just start a new empire? You can call it "The Illuminati" and use the same graphic, or use one of the all-seeing eye (the big eye from the US Dollar bill). Of course, you lose Treylis' score when you do that, but at least you'll have control of your own destinies. Just a suggestion. :notsure:

some quick research:

the last time he submitted a game was 8/12/2003
the last time he updated his website was 2002-04-08 01:09:49
the last time (and only time) he ever posted anything in the forum was 5/28/2003 8:02:39 AM

Hmm, the all seeing eye at the top of the pyramid. Commonly thought to be an illuminati symbol, and popularised as such by the Discordians (in the Principia Discordia), Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea (in the novels of the Illuminatus! trilogy) and Steve Jackson Games (in their company logo, and also their Illuminati card game of conspiracy).

The fact is though, their isn't, to my knowledge, any hard evidence linking the symbol to the Ancient Illuminated Seers of Bavaria or Adam Weishaupt. Far more likely is that is a symbol from the Rosicrucians and possibly mystical Roman Catholicism as a symbol representing the trinity.

Of course, it is also possible that it is a symbol in the tradition of Hermetic Alchemy, where it represents the alchemical trinity of Salt, Sulphur and Mercury.

Because of its popularisation it is actually used as a valid illuminati symbol by various factions, and besides, the illuminati movement is itself far older than than the group that first used that name. From what I understand Weishaupt was no stranger to Freemasonry...

Beserk,

We are now only five. Nand1 has defected to the Evil Empire and we are now no longer in the top ten. We have a leader who hasn't played for nearly a month, and an empire home page that doesn't mention our group, give us a story or anything. We could stay here and try and make it work, but we'd be the only two active players.

Or we could go form another illuminati as Theoden suggests, create a cool empire home page (I have free space on my own website I wouldn't mind devoting to it), with a cool empire background, and hopefully attract some fresh talent to help us climb back in the top 10. What do you think? I'll stick with your decision for now, since you have the higher score, but I'll let you know that if you are prepared to make a fresh start, I'll be with you. I'd also be prepared to write the first draft of our empire story...
