What country do you admire the most?

other than your own

What country do you admire the most? Other than the country you live in. I'm an American and I think I admire Japan the most. They have managed to combine the best elements of other cultures but give it their own distinct Japanese twist on it to make it truly their own.

Emily...posting 4 threads in 5 minutes does nothing other than displace everyone else's threads from the front page.

Perhaps a little more moderation?....

I think we shoudl encourage people to post a lot. If I had more time, I'd be posting 4 threads in 5 minutes!

So which country do I admire the most other than my native country? UK.  I admire Great Britain because they, more than most countries, have gone against their own short-term best interests to do "the right thing".

They didn't have to go to war with Germany in World War II. Hitler wanted peace with them. But they still bought on.  That's integrity and I admire that.

I would also have to say that I admire Japan also. They have a rich culture which dates back thousands of years and has some magnificent architechture.

Hard to choose. Too many good qualities in all Nations. My Heart is Nihon-jin (Japanese) and I crave to go there again to see the stark contrast of their geography. But I also admire England for their earlier world domination when they owned the Seas and their stand to help my country in their time of need. I like Oz for their candor and overabundance of Marsupials and Chiroptera (bats). I like the French countryside and Paris.

Maybe we should take the best of all of them and put them side by side on a race track for the enjoyment of all. We could calll it "Le Mans" Just kidding.

Sorry Emily. Too many good countries and good people to choose.
