Can unhappy citizens ever become happy again??

So far in the games I've played, it always seems that if I get an icon that shows my citizens to be unhappy, no matter what I build, or money I spend in propoganda, the Icon never goes away. Even if I don't lose the system throughout the game the icon stays. Has anyone played games where the icon actually goes away after awhile?

I think you are referring to the skulls and crossbones icon rather than the unhappy :( icon. Yeah, the skull never goes away. There was a discussion previously on whether it should.

Your talking about the Red unhappy face aren't you not the skull and cross-bones icon . . . (the later of which doesn't go away, ever).

This is very strange? What version are you playing 1.05? The Beta? 1.00? Mabye your taxes are too high, although that doesn't make sense because you can go as high as 80% and still win elections if your culturaly superiour to your neighbours and have alot more applied tech then they have. Come to think of it! AS you've described it your prefered party probably couldn't win an election anyway . . . it's a puzzelment? :notsure:

Edit! Hehe way to quick on the draw for me Ray . . .

If you mean the skull, then no, the skull doesn't go away. This doesn't mean that your citizens are unhappy--it means they're considering defecting to another race because that race has higher influence in that sector. The skull will not go away even after you increase your influence to the point where there is no danger of defection.

If you mean the red frowny face, meaning low morale, then that one should go away.
