Martial Law
The Dark EVE hovered in Wale orbit. DA managed to patch into the Evil Empire mainframe and order the 5th Fleet to Wale. He was going to take back Wale with or without the backing of the Evil Empire and since he has the Altarian princess as ransom. He can keep the Altarians out of this mess. The 5th Fleet arrived on time and DA order them to begin the steps immediately preceding an invasion. DA took the Dark EVE down onto Wale II, there on the surface DA called the Altarian Prime Minister and stated his demands.
“Who are you and where is my daughter?”
“Ah, you’re not in a position to make demands, Mr. Minister.”
“Fine, state your demands.”
“Good, the Minister wants to get down to business. I am in position to invade Wale II and instate martial law. I will hunt down and kill all your precious Fundamentalists.”
“Who do you think you are?”
“I’m an entrepreneur, my business happens to be more profitable under the Evil Empire’s rule than under any Fundamentalists.”
“How do you plan to invade? Does the businessman have an army?”
“I have my influences.”
“Right, sure. The man has an army.”
“You are making fun of the man that holds your daughter hostage?”
“Oh, no. I apologize.”
“You will not interfere with my invasion. Once I have control I will sell the Wale system to the highest bidder, as long as I am able to continue my business in peace.”
“As you wish and my daughter?”
“As soon as the invasion is successful and I have my planet and business secure she will be returned. However I will say that I have implanted a device that will allow me to remotely detonate a bomb, killing her and anyone within 5 feet of her. I also suggest not doing anything funny with it. It does have a defense mechanism.”
“Why are you doing this to me?”
“Because your people are pissing me off,” DA answered. “I will speak to you again once the invasion is successful.” DA shut down the com link. “That wasn’t that hard now was it, little Miss Princess?” DA laughed despite himself.
DA called up to the admiral aboard the 5th Fleet flagship. “Admiral, begin the invasion.”
“What about you’re safety, milord?”
“Don’t worry about me.”
“Yes, invasion will commence immediately, anything else milord?”
“If you would, hunt down and kill every last Fundamentalist and bring me their leader. I want every Fundie man, women and child lying waste in the streets.”
“As you wish,” DA severed the connection and left the Dark EVE. He had some business to attend to.
DA waited patiently for his contact to contact him. The payphone finally rang next to his seat. “Speak to me.”
“Milord, the Altarians have moved their fleet to the edge of Evil aerospace. They have stopped short and have not moved since last contact.”
“If there is any change, I want you to break protocol and call me immediately. This is too important to worry about who will hear us.”
“As you wish,” the phone fell silent. DA returned the receiver and walked out into the street, just as the Evil Empire’s 5th Fleet began to pelt the city with bombs. DA continued to the subway before disappearing from the view of the Fundie guards.
DA returned to the Dark EVE and lifted into orbit. The 5th Fleet admiral contacted DA and told him the invasion was successful. DA took a secure diplomatic channel and contacted the Altarian Prime Minister. “It is done. Tell you’re man to pick her up in the Pieces Nebula.”
Then he was contacted by his source. “Milord, a single Altarian ship has entered Evil Aerospace.”
“Let them proceed.”
“As you wish,” DA disconnected.
The Altarian ship appeared on the EVE’s scopes. “Dark EVE, this is the Debus, do you read?”
“Debus this is the Dark EVE, we read loud and clear.”
“DA, are you there?”
“Go ahead commander.”
“Do you have the princess?”
“I do.”
“Bring her over.”
“Not so fast. I want you to call back to tell your fleet to back away from our border and return to Altair.” DA heard a little shuffling and some raspy words.
“Done, now the girl,” DA could tell that the Altarian Commander was rather upset with the leadership by his tone of voice. He didn’t think a little girl was worth the integrity of Altarian foreign policy.
“As you wish, here she comes.” DA transfers the princess to the Debus. “Remember don’t mess with the implant and pleasure doing business with you.” All the Commander could do was smirk.
DA returned to Wale II. There he found the Admiral waiting for him with the Fundie leader shackled on the floor before him. “Is this the leader?”
“Yes, milord.”
“Good. That is all. Secure the planet and await further orders.”
“Yes, milord.” The Admiral turned and walked away. DA approached the man, who cowered in fear.
“Today, isn’t your lucky day.”
“No, I have a family.”
“Not anymore.”
“No, no you wouldn’t dare.”
“I already did.” The man broke down into tears. It is kind of hard to sympathy with a man that can’t even control his own emotions. A man can’t cower in fear at his own demise. A real man will stand up to it. This isn’t a real man. DA took out his light saber and cut off the man’s head. “This will make a good present.”
DA left Wale II and returned to the TSE. He strolled right into Hairy’s office and dropped the leader’s head onto his desk. “What is this, Lord Dark?”
“A present from me to you,” DA smirked at his reaction.
“I’ve heard you’ve been a busy man.”
“Yes, milord I retook Wale II.”
“Then I have no choice. Guard arrest DA for dereliction of duty.”
“What? You can’t do this to me!”
“I’m sorry old friend.”
“Damn you, Hairy!” As DA was being dragged out of Hairy’s office he sees the Altarian Prime Minister walk past him into Hairy’s office.
