Any other games like this??

I have MOO2.... but ive heard nothin but bad things about MOO3. Looking for something to play right now because of a few problems with this game:

a) CTD every 30 minutes is annoying

b) On higher difficulty levels, you must do one of very few strategies if you want to win, and this makes the games very repititive.

c) The way the metaverse scoring works makes it so that i can only play about 15 games per month (my last game had 20k score, yet raised my score in metaverse by a 2.5k points only). This is a big problem considering the repititiveness of the gameplay (see b), since i cant make any progress on the metaverse either... (ill play a game if its semi-repitive if i can see myself making progress, but its no fun to play if i have to do the same thing every game and i dont see myself getting anywhere on the scoring).

Yeah.... any games out there similar to this that are fun (graphics arent that important, its more gameplay).

Definitely give Alpha Centauri a go if you can find it, that's a classic.

I just wish AC's expansion pack was still for sale around here... :(

There are lots of turn based games in Asia. Most of them are war games and historical games. There is a company called Koei. They've been making turn based games since early 80's. Try koei.com and see for yourself.

Black Shade, you got good scores and activity in metaverse. If you like you can try and join an empire to get into higher ranks as a team. Furthermore, you could get some other strategies from your empire member that you never thought about(not just getting better score, but also a very enjoyable game).

I've been playing turn based game for about 20 years now. What makes this game special is that this is the most modable game ever. You can virtually rebuild the whole game if you like(just on data wise). This is a great game and I really appriciate stardock for making one of a kind.

Oh I almost forgot, if you are interested in joining an empire, you might wanna start right now with Illuminati. LOL

bit older: Deadlock2, CTP, Alpha Centauri
Ageless: Civ2, STARS!
Civil War Generals 2 is also a great TBS game, but is not an empire building game.

yeah, i have deadlock 2, civ 2, civ 3, Civ war generals 2 as well.... alpha centauri i have not played yet, ill see if i can find that.

AC1:Dark Majesty= best mmorpg EVER.... I was on leafcull as Insurgent (lvl 125 Archer, retired). I hear there releasing a new expansion soon of AC1 but with AC2 graphics (the only thing worth keeping from that game).

Yeah, StarCon2 is a classic - I wouldn't class it as a standard empire-building game, though, it's a genre all its own.
