The ANZAC Republic

The ANZAC Republic

Hi,

It gives me great pleasure to Announce that the reconciliation and merger of the ANZACs and The Australian Republic is now Complete, NeverNever has signed all the merger Documentation and it has been Accepted by all those in the Australian Republic. The Documentation Signing was witnesed by many other Citizens of the Metaverse. It's like a who's who of the metaverse here tonight.

We still havn't decided on a flag but we are sure that we will come to a solution soon

It is a tremendous honour to be the emperor who has successfully inspired, negotiated and signed with the emperor of the Australian Republic this historic Document to bring the whole of Old Australia and NewZealand back together. {BlueSteel Shakes the Hand of Never Never for the press to take a photo)

Let the Celebrations Begin.

A huge explosion blasts the atmosphere as the psycodelic Plasma fireworks fill the space viewports from "The A.S.S" .

Steve: "I guess we should rename this fine vessel"
BlueSteel: "Why"
Steve: "To include the new Republican name"
BlueSteel: "No I like the name A.S.S. it has a Kick to it"
Steve: "I was thinking of the A.R.S.S. that is the Australian Republic Space Ship"
BlueSteel shakes his head holding the bridge of his nose and gives out a sigh... "No Steve don't even suggest such a thing"

HEHE. Pontius is working on a gigantic maso bomb. Gonna blow up this whole stinking joint in two weeks. The whole Geektrix.

yes they are... and I think it could lead to the Havs and the Have nots.. unfortunatly I and many many others lack the skill (at the moment) to play and beat masso.. hell i'm finding it nearly impossible to beat tough)
End of quote

As someone who has and can beat maso, It isn't any more skillful. We just have certain cheese tactics down that you don't. I actually prefer painful and crippling. More realistic a game. I'm to more of the sim side than the uber I beat it just to beat it side. But to compete I'm forced to play Maso. So be it.

Well, come on then, don't be mean. >:(
What are these cheese tactics? Pretty please. :d

After over sixty games I discovered a pretty cheezy one on my last game on Crippling! You know how you can't build any more than one social project per turn . . . well if you . . . oh is that the phone . . . excuse me brb . . . ;)

Back . . . um well if you click on a ship then purchase so the various deals come up all you need to do then is click on the socila project you want to buy. So long as you've got cash you can buy what ever you like. This is really useful when you take over a planet in a culturaly significant location. If you time it right you can drop a historical preserve, orbital hospital, advanced research center and whatever else you can think of right in the heart of the AI's empire!

Another cheesy thing I've been doing lately which speeds up the game heaps is securing an alliance with every species (if possible including Minors) as early as possible. This is super useful because you don't have to worry about so many distractions. Be sure to keep in touch with all your allies with a little espionage to avoid subderfuge and assasinations.

LOL @Cotal LOL

Still waiting... {NOT}

but you are right.. you can get more than 1 social building out in one turn.. IE: 2 social projects compleated in the same turn.. I've just worked out how :) {no joke)

Promotion open to the minister of social developement to the first person whgo responds correctly (to the way i've discovered) how to do it :HOT: (It has to be the same way i do it as there could be more.. i don't know.. but we'll soon find out) you have 24 hours to try to solve this problem. only anzac Republicans (or those willing to Join) may answer plz...

Need a bit more info on how to do it.. when to do it.. Get it right and you'll be the new minister :) Cotal is sooo close. put the method into 3 simple steps.

Hehe . . . here have a Universal Translator! . . . LOL .

Wow those new weopons techs are really powerful, I just got kicked unconscious by the Altarian Dreds (game over) . . . without Disrubtors etc my Rangers got totaly wasted . . . well I won't be trying that again in a hurry . . . ;p

LOL

Ok Cotal the Minister job is yours.

Step 1: wait till you have 0 turns remaining on what your building.

Step2: double click on the planet

Step3: double click on the social project you want to buy. buy it for full price. then you have that item and the social project that you were building(if it was the next item in the order of things to be built) will be finished as usual at the end of the turn (if it doesn't come up as to be built next then reselect the item that was due to come out in 0 turns

Alternative:

wait till a social project gets built then double click on an item and buy that item and you have it instantly then you can select what to build next turn.

However:
This doesn't work when purchacing military production.
If you purchace a space vesel it doesn't appear straight away it will appear next turn .. so you have to leave it up as the current project

Its not cheese tactics as far as i'm concerned.. its the way the game is designed for what ever purpose.. but it is a good tip

Thanks Cotal (Minister for social developement) for Drawing our attention to it

Thanks Ray . . . looking at the way things are going with maso's being so well rewarded, I just had to give it another shot . . . I think I just about read everything posted on 'How to play Maso' yesterday . . . your diplomacy and fostering war amongst everyone else suggestions made all the difference! Infact, So much so I managed to Ally with everyone and hadn't even built a millitary . . . after that it wasn't too hard (suprizingly) . . .

:SURPRISED: Best of all it only took an hour rather than four! I can see that larger maps might get a lot more hairy though . . .

Good to see that you took the time to read those threads. I've said before that all the strats to beat Maso have been available to all for months already.

It's actually not too different on bigger maps.

I'm in fact, at this moment, writing about the power of diplomacy in the second instalment of my Galciv blog. I'll be re-making some suggestions to Stardock on these strats.

I to have read them.. ALL that i have found but when i've tried them i've still lost big time.. I need someone to spell it out to me like i posted my stratagy for beating ALL map sizes up to and (now) including Tough level. Sure my method is long and maybe not the best.. but it works 98% of the time..

(my stratagy is written up in the GROSS thread where they've just recently been talking about maso strats)

Both Killa and Pontius spelt their Maso strats out like you did. Have you tried them?

i have.. but i couldn't get them to work.. i usually end up loosing within 6-10 years.. :(

Call me simple.. i'm so frustrated that i can't beat maso.. ot even crippling or painful for that matter..

Using my stratagy on large map it generaly takes me about 12-20 hours of game play no matter what level i choose to play it at. I'm slow :( useless :( and depressed :(

My offer is still open. You can send me a save of your game before everything starts going downhill and I can give you some comments.

Ok the next game i play i'll try again.. and send you the save game :) when i've finished this one on "Tough level" ty in advance :)

forgive my pooring out of emotions.. its so frustrating that i can't get things to work when others can .. LOL

If i played maso and was getting scores like pontius i'd also play it more often as you do get a much better reward for time spent.. (and a better feeling of staisfaction) I'm only satisfied with my games at the moment when I beat a new level or new map size

At the moment if i were to play as often as i'd like my scores would only be worth about 1000 mvp if that.. so i'm having to hold myself back to about 4-5 games / month instead of playing about 8-10 games / month. (maybe even more.. depending how long they take)

Well I just wrote you a short note to cheer you up Blue ;) , hope it helps a little, I'm still a novice . . . One thing Ray said in another thread that struck me more than anything was 'Attack thier planets not thier ships'. Kinda like Chess I guess . . . If an AI's fleet is off on a crusaide thier King is exposed. On small maps with alpha strikes the weakest well placed force can still triumph.

Why the AI clears the orbits of thier enemies planets without combat transports within range is beyond me . . . :notsure:

Thanks Cotal.. I've got your email.. and i think i understand it a little better than pontius and killers version.. I'll start a game trying to emulate what you did after a have a sleep (which will be after i finish this game)

Thanks again Ray and Cotal and Pontius and killa.. hopefully one day i'll succeed at masso :) even if i end up driving you all (and myself) Nuts in the process LOL
