The problem with submitting games and having to hit the submit button many times and the following screen which says submission sucessful I also have to hit many times.Only way to get out of this is to hit windows keyboard key and then galciv button to go back into screen.
Last submission said something like submitted 1 error 5.

Just came across an interesting one in my last game that can be used as an exploit. If you blockade a planet that is getting trade, alien minifreighters will stop when they reach it and will be forever stuck until they are destroyed. The good side of this is that they continue to give whatever amount they were generating when they stopped, so someone could use this to always get the maximum amount from all his (alien-established) trade routes.

I have the problem that for whatever reason when I play a game after a while the computer shuts down completely. It's not a virus because it only happens when I play Galciv. In the past I never had these problems, it started after an upgrade, might be 1.10, I don't know exactly because I didn't play for a while. Because the computer shuts down completely the event is not cought by smart exception. So I don't know how to resolve it. I have even removed and reinstalled the game, but it is still the same. When I restart the computer and continue the saved game, I can play again several turns but than the same happens. I looked if this happens after the same amount of turns but as far as I know now, this is not the case. I play on a laptop, 512MB internal, 64MB videocard, Windows XP pro. Can somebody help me?

Freya, it could be that XP is tying to bluescreen but you may have your computer set to automatically restart in control panel/system/startup-recovery. try checking that setting first.
Tnx Kryofx, I have disabled automatic restart. Will see what happens if galciv crashes again.

I had it once more. I happened just after an anomaly, something like discovering eggs and a beast trying to kill my explorer ship. Since the computer shut down (so no CTD) I have no smart exception log. HELP (:(

OK. I tried to start the last saved game that caused the system shut down. Smart Exception worked now and it says:

BTW, I have the original Galciv version, not the German or other foreign language version. I'm a member of Drengin.

I just finished a game and got a ZERO score. That is the second time this has happened. The first time was when I first installed v1.10. Not that stardock ever commented on the ZERO score the first time.

I have the saved endgame if you care to see it.

I seem to have the same missing excalibur problem that's been reported. However, it doesn't appear to be related to the bonus pack? I still have AMMs (which someone else mentioned they didn't have any more either). I didn't really notice because I rarely play the game that far out anyway, but the last game I played I did.

I just submitted my third game, and to my surprise, it is listed as a loss. It was a win, by Cultural Conquest, and the score is appopriate for a win, but it still is listed as a loss. Whazzup with that?
On the global military swap screen, the number of planets producing each ship type should be indicated. So it would say "10 planets changed from battleship to dreadnaught".

If it's just the Excalibur that's not working, the .SHIP file could have been corrupted somehow. Try posting a copy of the entry in the .SHIP file (bonuspack.SHIP, I think) either here or in GC Mods (as most of the people reading that forum regularly would know what a .SHIP entry should look like).

eradicus: don't hit the submit button more than once. It takes awhile to submit now because it's doing some additional testing, but it is doing something.  That's probably why you're getting the multiple dialogs.

Freya: have you updated your sound or video drivers lately? Or installed any new media players like WinDVD? It sounds like you are having some kind of driver conflict.  Also, are you using the pointing device on the laptop? Have you tried running scandisk and defragging the computer?

NewfyScotian: if you aren't using any mods, send the end save game to me at [email protected] (both the .sav file and the corresponding folder), I'll run it through the debugger and see if I can find what's causing it.  And let me know if you're doing anything like milking the AI for money.

Magnum: if you still have the save game for your game, please send it to me and I'll take a look at it.

Here's a link to a clean set of data files, for those of you with excalibur problems, etc.

It's only telling you your number one out of all the races you have made contact with, if this is at say the beginning of the game and you haven't met anyone then yes they will say you are number one because they have nothing to compare you to.

Well, it doesn't matter how many civs I've already found. Even if all the major covs are discovered, I'm always #1. Hmmm...

Doesn't this happen when you use the cheat codes? Maybe you have them enabled by accident?

Anomalous scores occur for a variety of reasons. It is not only because of cheat codes or mods. Players have complained about legitimate games being anomalous for a long time now. It seems if you do too well against the AIs you can flag a game anomalous. Sometimes, though not always, Stardock will look over a save game that a player feels was wrongly flagged anomalous and tell you what you did wrong. Other than that, an anomalous score is forever. :(

Has anyone else had difficulty with the inconsistant behavior of the scroll bars or am I the only one?
End of quote

My only problem with scrollbars is that half the time my mouse wheel works with them, and half the time it doesn't. It comes and goes in the game with no discernible pattern...

CariElf,

Sorry, I didn't think to preserve my previous save.

However, I have a new problem and will sit on the savegame for a while (since I'm getting aggravated by GalCiv). I finished a game, won by Tech Victory, and have tried to submit. Sometimes I get a failure, sometimes (more than once) an apparent success, but it never shows up in my metaverse profile at all. Should I send that save to you?

I've noticed that Excalibur Tech is missing from the in-game tech tree. I can still research it once I get there, and I can build them and everything, but it doesnt show up on the tree. Have the other people complaining about it actually not been able to research it?

emperor: The in game tree browser only shows the core techs regardless... this is a known problem.

The 'unable to build Excaluburs' is something else, and it *usually* amounts to the bonus pack being missing or damaged somehow.

If a fleet of ships is sent towards a rally point, they do not auto-pilot properly. The fleet gets selected, and you have to select "skip" each turn for the auto-pilot to kick in for that fleet.

Need to roll back to pre patch... Can it be done without archive???

New patch is cool but ships do not respond to commands like before. Ship graphics are missing, they fight and fire but are not visible. Clicked on a Survey vessel until i was cursing it and finally just did a sector sweep, never did respond to Auto Survey. Ranger same thing. Too fustrating.
Must say though, no CTD's :)

I have seen this in both the beta and 1.10. I would create a freighter and send it across the universe to a planet (usually it is the Yor, but sometimes happens with a minor). Once the freighter gets there, it will not move onto the system to establish a trade route. I don't get a message saying I have maxed routes and I know I have them available. The only thing I can do is disband the frieghter and create a new one. It usually works the second time through.

Why isn't the MetaVerse updating? My scores show up (when I click on my ID on the MetaVerse list) but the number of games and the total score is not being updated on the list. :(
