Welcome to the Fellowship of the Ring Empire Thread - The Sequel. :)

*yawn* I've been pretty quiet today since I've got a minor cold.

Is everybody cool with the name Council of Four?
End of quote

My one reservation is that it seems to be very slightly elitist.

That said, I don't mind that much, and I don't have any better ideas offhand.

No - an IT teacher (amongst other things - I double (at least) my earnings during the school hols as a consultant!) - http://www.alex-robertson.co.uk/alex.htm

Good morning, gang! It's truly a new day in the Metaverse! G.R.O.S.S. is now down to 5th and may sink lower if the rest of Posse moves. It's going to be strange not having the pirates hanging around the Top 2 empires, but it looks like the battle is on between MWC and the Jedi.

I was really tired last night after I finished that Huge/Crippling. Only 22k points for it...doesn't seem worth it, does it? Oh, well...I really enjoyed the game and the points don't really matter all that much. I would like to get to Top 25 sometime, though. ;)

Yes, the Council of Four does sound a little elitist. I didn't think about that. How about the Fellowship Council? That sounds a bit better. I think I was just thinking of the Council of Elrond when I came up the the Council of Four. I'll change it a little later.

Hey all,

Just finished my first Chanelling game. It was interesting, as I was setting my self up for a military conquest game the fundermentalist came along and wiped out three civs in about 30 turns. After that the game was easy, but it was nice to win one at a higher level.

Glad to see you made it back Ray.

Celeborne,

Congrats on moving up the difficulty ladder! Challenging is one of my favorite difficulty levels.

I see you haven't moved up to ver 1.11 yet. Are you waiting to see if it's stable before you do? It's proven to be very stable so far and the AIs seem a little different.

vincible,

I see you submitted a Medium/Maso and it netted about 39k points. Was that a scoring test for Alex? Not much of a change between Medium maps on 1.10 and 1.11, is it?

Fellowship council is fine with me.

I really like 1.11 so far. It does seem significantly easier to me though, do you agree?
It wasn't intended to be a test. If someone wants to draw some data from it, it was played completely under 1.11.
Actually, yes. 1.11 does seem easier. The AI doesn't give money as easily, but they seem pretty willing to part with techs and ships. Also, they seem to react more to Diplomacy ability.

I think the minor expansion is the biggest thing for me, though. I love the fact that I'm having to compete with even more empires for the good systems! I've went back to +5% PQ pick so I can colonize the 13s and 14s again!

By the way, Brad fixed the Galactic Map! Check it out at this http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/MetaMap/map.asp

Yeah, in my current game the Scottinglas picked up a PQ26 planet two sectors from earth. They didn't keep it for long though :D

Another end of another day,
Shot to hell in every way.
I've worked enough
For three good men,
But tommorrow I'll
Do it all again.

Everybody hang in there, Friday's right around the corner! Have a great night, everybody!

Is it time to say last one out please turn out the lights over at GROSS? No, not yet. There still be an old school pirate or two willing to plunder the Meta. :)

Message for ricbayer - re the new 1.11 scoring. I have something slightly unbelievable to report, ric. I played my usual small maso through under 1.10, and saved it the turn before I ws going to win. Played it out and the submission score was 26,270. I upgraded to 1.11, and loaded up the save. Played through the turn to win, submission score: 44,880 :SURPRISED:

What the....? I'n not sure if this is an artifact of the way I went about this, so it will be interesting to see what happens when I play through an entirely 'native' 1.11 game.

Cheers,

Wombie

Hey ringwraiths.

Lost that ring yet?

Hey, bakka! Welcome back! Big changes since you've been gone. Ray's mostly retired, meaning he still plays a game here and there but not like he used to. At least we're still in first!

Welcome to the Fellowship, The D and ADDONAY! If you haven't done so already, visit our website at this http://www.angelfire.com/rings/fellowshipgalciv !

Halloween weekend...you can bet I won't be playing GalCiv tonight! Too much good drinking to do! ;)

Yes this is a problem with 1.10 masos submitted under 1.11 (see the scoring thread here http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=104836 ). Cari and Brad were informed of the problem so please don't take advantage of it :)

I sent an email to your hotmail address. Rick, can you give me your email address too?

Thanks for all the input regarding scoring on 1.11. No wonder it was confusing. According to Darth, Wombie, and others posting in the scoring thread, the wormhole in the universe is when one starts a maso game in 1.10 and submits it under 1.11. Then one can get a 50 to 60% scoring boost. On the other hand, a maso game started and finished in 1.11 gives about a 5% boost in scoring compared to 1.10??? Anyone else have better figures? On normal, Rainbird noted very little change between 1.11 and 1.10 so I haven't figured out sub-maso scoring changes yet? Any comments? This mystery is getting closer to being solved. I knew something was funny when Ray got a 53k on a huge maso because I knew if anyone could hit the cap on huge maso, it would be Ray. ;)

Finished another gigantic maso using the "Cotal Strategy", which briefly, is get everyone to ally - then stab them in the back. This game I got all 4 majors that were left and all 3 minors that were left to ally at the same time. The result = no more risk of war. Plus you can drop party palaces inside the sector of the AI stars. 1 or 2 party palace starbases inside each of the AI's home sectors really starts a chain reaction. Once the total alliance is achieved, the game is in the win column and you just have to go through the motions. I had never allied with 7 AI in one game - it was fun.

Welcome to all the new folks in the FotR. Congrats to us for 2.5 million mpts. Congrats to Theoden both for the good games, the Metaverse Review, and administering this empire now. My e-mail is [email protected] Congrats to vincible for 300k. We now have 3 of the top 5 spots in the metaverse . . . for a moment :D

Might be a busy weekend for me too but maybe I will try a huge map soon. Keep it fun and keep it happening. :)

Wow, you're channeling Ray's spirit.

A big welcome from me, too :)

Hectic day at work... running back and forth between meetings. I'll get back to you sometime later today or maybe tomorrow, Theoden.

Rick, I've emailed you as well. I'm looking forward to both of your replies.

We're on the march to 3 million! Let's keep up the great gaming! Once again, I'd like to say thanks to all members of the Fellowship for your continued loyalty and participation. :HOT:

The eagle soared high above the grassy plain, circling lazily, when suddenly it spotted two small figures making their way across the grass. Drifting downwards it saw that they were two men engaged in conversation.

... op whining! We're on a mission! We get to Theoden, we ask the question and we go home. It's that simple.

But sir! The country is so pretty here. Couldn't we just stay a bit longer?

No! We go to Edoras, we find the Great Muckraker and then we leave. End of discussion! Remember what happened to your predecessor, you don't want me to sic the triggerhappy, scizophrenic israeli on you, huh?

No sir!

The eagle soared upwards again, turning south and speeding with all possible haste towards the golden printshop, Theoden would need to know!

Don't look now, but those terror stars I was talking about in the Jedi thread a few days ago are on your tail. The charm offensive is over and the orgy of conquest has started.
