My concern of a pay for expansion pack...
What is going to happen once/if there is a pay for expansion? Will the main game (without expansion) still see bug fixes? Will it die as far as growth goes? I know originally all the talk about keeping people interested in GalCiv was by providing regular meaningful updates. Will this end for the people who don't want to pay for the expansion?
Just wondering, because I think, although it will bring in some new revenue, it has a very strong risk of splintering the community into two groups, and eventually completely isolating one of the groups.
I know for me in the past when bug fixes were only applied to an expansion, and I didn't buy the expansion I got very angry at the company. It didn't make me want to buy the expansion, in fact the opposite was true. It made me want to not buy from them again. As for new content, that's your perogative, but I do think it will splinter the community.
