Oh Yeah! I use this to chat to my family in the UK all the time. (I'm in Canada) It doestn't cost anything coz it's computer to computer and it works great.
Download and have cheap international calls i.e. ZERO!

The only 'gotcha' is if you want to pay for a provider so you can use VOIP to a normal landline.

Skype locks you into their provider by modifying their software from the open standard (according to the latest Australian Personal Computer mag) with no option for refund.

..but PC to PC calls is 100% free and their goal is to keep it as such. As for quality of PC to PC calls - I've never heard anything less than a quality that blows away even your home landline.

That's fine for us PC geeks

But Joe User Average (Joe User's country cousin) isn't going to find VOIP very useful without being able to make calls to 'normal' phones also - so the marketing theory goes apparently...
