If anyone out there is worried about using mods and then ending up with an anomalous score, please dont be. I am currently using every mod on my site and i have yet to have a game go anomalous.

Mods are created by people like myself with one thing in mind, and that is enhancing the terrific game that is Galactic Civilizations.

I now find my games much more interesting than before as you never know what you will uncover on an anomaly, or what event might turn up next, or even the topic of the next UP Issue.

So if you have yet to install one of the mods, either from here or other sites, then think about what you may be missing.

If you are not sure how to go about installing new mods into your game files then follow the link at the base of this post and go to the install instructions page. Here you can find full instructions on how to install the new mods.

Have fun with the game and enjoy the mods! :)

The Mod Masters Empire is not yet dead. but with no takers i decided to ditch the thread and concentrate on the mods site. :)

Remember to join the mailing list for instant notification on future mods posted on site.->Http://files.galciv.org

I am hoping that more people will start making new mods in the near future. it is always good to see 'new blood' submitting mods as well as the veteran modders. Now that the new year celebrations are coming to an end i will wait in anticipation.

If the people who have already submitted their mods to the galciv site would also like to submit them to me as well, i would be more than willing to post them on the site.

Thanks
LM

You could always return to the Jedi Republic and still work on the MOD site. ;)

Just a friendly suggestion.

(On a side note)If I was not in the Jedi Republic and wasn't still trying to help keep it going, I would have joined the Mod Masters. But the Force has chosen another path for me now. :)

thanks Arcilte but i think it is best (for now) that the mod site is not affiliated with any major empire. Besides whilst being in one of the major empires is fun, i do like the challenge of submiting games and watching the empire creep up the chart positions :)

Great job Lord Megatron. Very useful site (I got lost in the library here, and gave up on mods all together, until now :CONGRAT:
Is there any precautions to abide by before installing UPs & events?

No. mods as a whole do not cause games to go anomalous. just remember if you can pick it so can the AI's!
Make sure that if youre running v1.13 you have corrected the problem with the tech tree.(link on site if you havent, with walkthrough). only thing to make sure is that if you use a new political party their party numbers carry on sequentially :)
make sure you put them in the correct files and just play the way you have been all along.
thats it!
Welcome to the mods site Nastavnik :)
any problems or questions my e-mail is always open ->[email protected]

Thanks Lord Megatron. I'll surely give them a try!
By any chance do you know if there was an update for the galciv writer (to be used with 1.13)?. I wanted to make a few more events and UP resolutions. If they work fine, maybe I can contribute to your library :)

you would be welcome. as far as i know there is no current update for galciv writer. however i and others have written new mods for v1.13 using the writer with no problems. :)
look forward to receiving those mods.

I am now abvialent about using Mods in games I post to Metaserve. For a while, there were not problem. Then, I started getting anomolous games. I posted two. The first one, I kept reposting and eventually it was reported correctly, i.e., what my correct scores was, etc. The second game is still anomolous. Apparently an anomolous game is not counted in all areas correctly, unless I misintrepret the legend. I have played 15 games. When you have played 15 games, you are supposed to be promoted. Maybe you only get promoted on game 16, not sure. But one of the 15 games in anomolous. So, the game is counted, but not for promotion?

I no longer use mods in games I want to submit, I only use them when playing for fun. They are much more interesting. Stardoc should rethink the game strategy that causes anomolous games. Why allow mods at all, expecially on the official GalCiv web site if they cause the game to "tilt."

cheers,
dennis

I have never had a problem using any of the MODS from Lord Megatron's site or the Stardock Library. Guess thats just me.

Mods dont cause anomalous scores.i can say that from experience as im using EVERY mod i have! Anomalous scores are caused by other aspects of gameplay. Brad and Cari have both said that the over-exploitaion of a minor race too early on in the game is the normal reason a game is given an anomalous score. if you think logicaly about it how can a mod cause an anomalous score. a mod is a user written file that behaves in a pre-determined way. no mod can alter the game data from the way it was first written. all user created mods are exactly the same as the ones created by Stardock, just variations on the theme!
if you have received an anomalous score for a game youve played, you should look into the way you play the game, not at the game code. plenty of players have received anomalous scores without ever using a mod!

Dont blame mods for a user created issue!

No. you just play the game differently to those who receive anomalous scores :)

Hmmm... Never thought about it that way. :)

I play small games. My strategy is simple - set the technology to least number of months and work up from there. I don't exploit minor races. I trade with them. I almost never trade techs unless a request is made by an AI. In those cases, I always trade. I have the system set to only win by military victory. With Mods, this strategy will generate anomolous scores, but no anomolous scores when played without mods.

Dont know about Arcilte, but i never trade with minors or majors for at least 2 years. that seems to do the trick. what mods were you using?
