We need your help!

Stardock are looking to add new medals to the metaverse ranking!

How you can help

We need for you to come up with some new names and graphics for these medals. Please decide on the name for the medal  and a new graphic, and submit it to me along with a 20x20 gif image of the chosen medal. Please keep in mind that these medals will be for the entire metaverse.

Images of the medals and their names will be available for viewing at the following address http://files.galciv.org/medals.html

Once a reasonable amount of submissions have been made, then the team at Stardock will choose the ones to add to the metaverse.

Please spread the word about this to all the members of your empires.

Depends on when the interest in creating new medals and ideas slows. ideally we would like to carry on until we have quite a few to choose from. count on it being at least 2-4 weeks.  Have patience Jedi ;)

OOO! I just had an epiphany! :D Maybe awards for achievements such as #1 on the Metaverse should be trophies (or artifacts?) because they can be passed around. The idea that a medal would be taken away seems to upset a lot of folks (including me). The award for 25 Beyond Human victories, for example, could be a medal because it couldn't be lost. :) Yeah, I know - just another request to revamp the whole award scheme. ;)

Also, as far as selecting the new medals, I know that if I was in charge LOL , I would put the artwork that I like with the ideas that I like. Ya know - mix and match. I dunno how other contributors feel about this suggestion, but I wouldn't have a problem with Stardock finding the matches they prefer. Shoot, they can copyright my little pics and names for all I care. :) After all, some of my submissions are just modified versions of the medals we already get. ;)

i was thinking more along the lines of linking the two together. maybe design trophies for some of the 'medals'.

However, if anyone wants to design new ideas for trophies etc, then submit them and we will see! i am not saying they will be used as it may not be posible to do some of the things suggested, but there is no harm in submitting them. :)

Perhaps one way of doing things would be to give the trophy to the present #1/#2/#3, and leave anyone who has ever reached the top 3 with a medal for the highest rank they got.

This may be a little too revolutionary, but has it ever been considered to make the medals, say, 25x25 instead of 20x2?. So much more detail would be possible without a lot of change in size. Just a thought.
