Why do we have a Stardock server app loading when we boot our computers?!

I'm having some weird things happening on my computer and I'm checking everything that's loading when I boot, and one of the things auto-loading is the following: sdmcp.exe

Is that suppposed to be happening? This concerns me as it does NOT show up in my msconfig or services.msc file.

Jeffrey,
I don't know how to link to the threads but there's two threads in the past (do a search on sdmcp.exe)and you'll see them pop up.
I had this same problem but after reading the threads I got it fixed, just don't remember what I did.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Sincerely
Kelly

It's not a server app.

The Master Control Program (ignore the Tron flashbacks) is a common tools library intended to keep processor/resourse usage down when multiple stardock products are in use.

Right now it's only important if you use DesktopX or ObjectBar, but eventually (if things go according to the announced plan) common routines in most Stardock apps are going to be handled by this shared library so that they don't need to load a dozen copies of the same code in memory (and to keep from reducing stability unnecessarily by hooking the same OS functions several million times).

The MCP installs as part of Stardock Central, although it isn't currently used by it.

I'd just disable it. The only crap I have running in the background is my firewall, and I like to keep it that way.
