Altarian Prophecy (Beta) Bug Reports

Altarian Prophecy (Beta) Bug Reports

Please specify which version of the beta you are using. You will probably be told to upgrade if you are using an older version.

Please install and run SmartException from the free stuff tab in Stardock Central so that if the beta crashes, it will generate a report that you can send to me with your debug.err files and save games.

Please update the non-expansion part of Gal Civ if you haven't, but please note that your save games will be messed up because of the additional improvements.

I will want any save games that reproduce bugs, particularly crashes.  Save games in Altarian prophecy are only one file, no folders.  Go ahead and e-mail them to me along with a description of how to reproduce the bug.  You can still report the bug here, but I always take save games that reproduce the bug.

Please report typos in the typo thread.  String Not Found bugs are not typos.  When you see a string not found, send me your debug.err file before starting a new game.

Please give as much detail as possible when reporting bugs so that I can reproduce it more easily.

Benjamin, if you hit the shift key while saving (which disables the file scrambling) does it work for you?
Yes, hitting both shift keys allows me to save...darned if I know why it has to be both of them. I can't just save though, I have to save as, everytime.

Not sure if this is mod problem or an AP problem, or if it is intended, but none of my planets have names? :notsure: Using the new M version.

Why does it need to be scrambled in the first place? Our reg keys are encoded in them for some reason?

Holding Right, Left, and both shift doesn't seem to work for me when saving a scenario (win98).

I had to hold them while in the Save as screen...
until save was completed, I also held it as I clicked save as...in the file menu...just to be sure

Should you get feedback when submitting a game?

The last two I have tried to submit nothing happens and it loads back to the main menu.

I am using AP1.49M.

Some comments about recent game in AP1.49M. I switchted all AI to random. Left difficulty on Crippling. Apparently the difficulty you get on random is not what you set on the difficulty setting. When finished, the game was submitted as Suicidal. But the score assigned was about 20,000 less than the same type of win at Crippling.

1. I thought suicidal has been eliminated
2. If it has not, I thought it was more difficult than crippling, and therefor should have a higher score, say 37,000 instead of 17,000.

Disregard, problem fixed with reinstall. My guess, I put some mod files in wrong folders.

Bug: Minor: Multiple Star Ships assigned the same name.

ie: I've got 3 "USS Anti-Matter Missile 51"

I've got other ships with identical names (mostly colony ships).

I've noticed this problem since early versions of Galciv. It can sometimes make it difficult to give away a specific ship.

I was just looking at the stats for my illustrious opponents. The Drath, Drengin and Altarian morality says: String not found. The others are okay. (the Korx have been eliminated or I'd bet they would also not have their morality listed.

Grathocke, I always rename the ships I want to give away/sell, so that they are easy to find. Also keeps me from giving away the wrong ship. ;)

Boy, does that make me feel stupid! :SURPRISED: I rename ships all the time, but never thought of renaming ones I want to give away.

Still in since 1.0:

Money-Bug:

AI demands money when you are in the Reds. They should demand a Planet or declare war in that case. This goes and in hand with the Treasury Graph showing a ridciulously high amount of money when you are in the reds.

AI-Research-Bug:

The AI still puts a lot of money into research after there is nothing left to research and that way is next to no competition in an All-Techs-Researched game.

When starting a new game, I somehow wiped out the alignment of all the races, setting them all to pure good. I know what the original 5 should be from 1.20, and can fix that. However, what should the default alignment be for the Korx and the Drath. Also, shouldn't there be a 'Default' button to reset the alignments?
From what I've seen, both the Korx and Drath are Pure Evil.

don't know if this has been mentioned but in the foreign policy screen under the United Planets tab, the distribution of of voting chart does no show either the Korx or the Drath. In the actual meeting of the united plantes it does however.

In the lastest build I noticed that when buying starbase modules, one is now allowed to buy a module that makes your BC total go negative.

ie: you can buy a 500 BC module when your BC total is 1-499 BCs. Only after your total BCs is negative does the message popup saying that you don't have enough money to buy that module.

I don't know if it's reported yet (just downloaded it, and I see 193 replies), but when you cancel opening the map editor, it doesn't cancel, but rather acts as though I pressed the "Ok" button.
(In case you're confused about where this happens, simply clicking on "Map Editor", then hitting cancel is when it happens.)

In the planetary screen area, if you right click a social or military project, it'll make the text selected, but it won't select it in any other way.

I believe this is intentional. That's how it works with rush building and terror stars, too.

So I have 1.49m003. First thing I noticed was that the GCloader draws in two separate locations when I try to drag it (pieces of each half is drawn at each location). Really weird, and annoying, but not really too big of a deal.

Also, I started the game on Painful (all Intelligent, except for Genius Altarians), and ended the game on Suicidal. So besides the obvious mistake there, what difficulty is Suicidal supposed to be at?
I could not go beyond 10 trade routes. With all the adders, I should have been allowed about 15. (Beta 1.49M[b].003 )

No you shouldn't, Stardock put a maximum limit of ten into the game, thats not a bug.

This oddity seems to only happen when you are clicking on text and drag it.
