Damn look at that. If that's not advertising, then what is. If people aren't falling to it then, it's going to torture them for a couple months.

I think he gets a commission on conversions, Maike ;)

But seriously, there is nothing wrong with expressing genuine pleasure at something he likes. :)

Just reflecting on Lifewish's misgivings on paying the $30.

Sounds like there are going to be quite a few satisfied folks.

Actually he hasn't paid the $30, but it's going to kill him until he does.

Great marketing idea releasing the beta to Drengin.net users, but I can't say I like it (seeing that I don't have Drengin.net). One question, will us "commoners" still get updates before the release of the expansion, or will all the bug fixes etc. be packaged into the expansion?

What's not to like? LOL

Sure, you have to wait. But unlike other expansions where it is an NDA protected closed beta, you have the option to beta if you like, and you can hear about the expansion as it is in beta.

And when that is done, you get it.. for FREE.

I certainly am not complaining!

No, I paid just like everyone else - but people seem to easily forget what a great product Gal Civ is - and it's a rarity (now-a-days) to have a turn-based game so nicely done. I'll be doing everything I can to support Gal Civ, as I hope it will continue to evolve :)

Why are people offended that they can choose to be a beta tester by paying, but get the same product within a couple months for free if they don't pay?

I mean for a lot of game companies, you can not choose to be a beta tester, you have to be selected.

I am NOT a Drengin.net subscriber. I'm happy to let others eliminate some of the bigger bugs while I wait.

If some wish to pay $30 for Drengin products, including being ginuea pigs, more power to em.

If some wish to wait for a free expansion that will have the major bugs worked out, more power to em.

smiles everyone smiles.

Ugggh See what you've all done. I'm quoting ricardo montleban from a lame early 80s tv show...... blech.

I must say that the beta hasn't been the stablest for me. So far it's crashed 4 times since I installed it this afternoon...may be a specific issue with the game I was playing, but I was unable to pinpoint a cause. I definitely agree with all the other comments though. Rally points, trade embargoes, the tech tree browser, and the hyperlinking are all great.

If you saw my trade shot in the other thread...that was so great. I was getting about 2/5 my income from those 2 sectors, and that was with only 6 active routes out of the 9 I had the tech for. Plus, when I'd finished everyone else off and embargoed the Arceans, they were so incredibly screwed it wasn't funny. They'd built up their military hugely with all the trade income, and when they were back to taxes from their measly 5 systems, they were all of a sudden way in the hole every turn even with no spending. By the time I finished them off I think they were down in the -100k range...they would not decommission or sell any of their fleet even though the maintenance was driving them into the ground. :P

Well, i got it and i love it.

My only complaints are with the weird stardock interface, and the fact that it seems like you have to jump through hoops to get it to work.

The actual game enhancements are awesome, the Rally points function is a must have. And the hyperlinking uses the power of computers to make things alot easier on us ppl who have no memory (ie u dont have to know where all the systems are, just right cluck on them)

The value of trade items is alot nicer, and yes i enjoy trade whoring more than ever.

I have to hand it to the Programmers of this game, they are really responsive and know how to code. Most of all they take care of their people, alot of companies could learn something from them (sneezes TALDREN.. hehe)

Thanks again for a great game
