why exactly is object desktop disabling my firewall? is that part of the $50 I spent?

see topic.

When I load a theme, I can test my network and see that my firewall is not working. Furthermore, I cannot change my nvidia firewall settings, without getting an NMI error: page is busy and cannot be used by this service. Any ideas? Im on win xp pro.

Havocdragon,

What Stardock programs are running, and what theme is the issue showing up on?

Are we talking about an open or vulnerable port here? Can you access your firewall settings to close the port in question when the Object Desktop programs in question are unloaded?

Are we perhaps talking about a router firewall? If it is a router, and a port is not being stealthed, do you have port forwarding via gaming category?

If you can leave the firewall version, and some more detailed information, perhaps someone can give you some good advice.

My guess is he's talking about NVidia NAM (NIC) firewall.......

Yea the nvidia firewall is the firewall that comes standard with nforce 4 motherboards. The main problem is i cant get into my firewall settings to see if anything is disabled. When I go to my firewall properties I get errors when I try to click on anything, and I cannot adjust the settings. I unload all themes, and suddenly everything is fine again.

Which kind of theme?
DesktopX?
Suites?
WindowBlinds? WB can cause issues with some programs that don't like to be skinned - if it's the WBs then you can go into Configure, Settings, Per Application and exclude the .exe(s) - see if that helps

I don't know why you would say its crap, ive been using it for 6 months now, and neither adaware or spybot have found one single spyware.

Nvidias firewall uses your current web browser to manipulate its properties, much the same as a linksys router.

perhaps its disabling an api call procedure or activex control
