CNN/Money has been received more news about Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' rating change, including the fact that Wal-Mart has decided to pull the game off of its shelves since it is now rated as Adults Only. As reported earlier Take-Two has halted all production of San Andreas and has now reduced its earnings forecast by $50 million. Wal-Mart's reason for pulling the title is simple, "We do not sell games that are rated AO," said Wal-Mart spokesperson Karen Burk. Burk further stated that Wal-Mart has not decided whether they will sell a new version of the game, claiming that its up to consumer interest.
Target and most other retailers are planning to follow suit by pulling San Andreas until they can re-sticker the games to Adults Only (stickers to be provided by Take-Two) or exchange them with the new version expected in the coming weeks.
Yesterday Take-Two admitted for the first time that the sex games that caused all of the controversy were built into all versions of the release and not added by the Hot Coffee mod as previously stated. Players can actually access the mini games by using a cheating utility such as Action Replay Max and a series of cheat codes.
