Who wants a Metaverse scoring calculator program?

I've seen some references to people wanting a simple program to calculate your Metaverse score. I wouldn't mind working on this if there's enough interest in it. It has been a quiet summer and I could use a break from playing GalCiv for a while and do something constructive :)

The quickest solution would be an input your scores into a file and the program just reads that file and calculates your score. I guess a DATE SCORE sequential format would be the easiest. For example my scores would look like this:

7/11/2003 8136
7/11/2003 8184
7/13/2003 7276
7/14/2003 14050
7/17/2003 9004
7/21/2003 10380

The program would then group the games into the 30 day blocks and do the calculations based on this thread http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=79883

For the user in my opinion it would a waste of time to have to input the dates and scores into the program itself when you can copy them from the Metaverse.

Personally I don't think I would use a program like this, but you guys are interested we should try to make one. I guess you could use it figure out how to get a certain score, or maybe we could expand it to include the game settings. Then it could show you how you scored on different map sizes or morality. Anyways, I'm going to think about this tonight and I'll check back tomorrow to see what you think about it.

The metaverse can already filter different moralities
and game settings :)

The only use I could see is to see the affect of an
unsubmitted score on your overall score.

If it is not too much trouble, I thought this would be useful for those of us who are interested to see how our overall score would improve by typing in a potential score for our next game into such a calculator.

When looking at the calculations, it should be pretty easy to make a simple calculator and maybe throw in a GUI if its not that bad. Is there anything else you would want besides finding your metaverse score? It seems almost not worth it, since you can do that with Excel. The only bonus would be not having to worry about fitting the games into blocks.

Hehe... I was made a Veteran last week. What determines your Citizen/Veteran/Diplomat stuff? I know its not the number of games or posts submitted since I'm lacking in both departments ;) I just won't worry about it and put on the shades :HOT:

I think posts submitted is enough if you are being helpful and answering questions, it's the only reason I can think of that they made me a veteran

That is purely the will of the gods here. But I do wonder if anyone volunteers to take over programming and running the Metaverse for free, if that person wouldn't get to be an instant avatar. :D Grats on the upgrade, though. :CONGRAT:

I have a question on Metaverse scoring...

Ray has a score on the big board of 99970, but when you look at his score by clicking his name, it's 97265.5. Does anyone know why that is? :notsure:

I noticed that too, and was wondering about that. My score is the same on the big board as it is by clicking on my name so everybody isn't like that. But I've only submitted scores in 1.05 and 1.09. Maybe there's a problem on the player board with calculating your total score if you've submitted over various versions. Has anyone heard of an explaination about that?

As far as I've learnt from the Metaverse wizards, the two scores reflect different decaying formulae. The Metaverse score has a 5% monthly decay while the profile score has a 10% monthly decay.

Well I for one don't think I want to know completely how it works. It's just another piece of info to cause one to play the metaverse rather than the game. And wink wink we know we've all said "oh I'm not playing the metaverse" I wouldn't want to be hollow now would I?

Oh yeah, the calculator would be a good idea too ;) I would love to have the metaverse, or sumthing, clearly show this scoring. My first game gave me 1:1 in the metaverse, my second more like 2:1, and since then, it seems like whatever I put in, I got around 1-2k, despite a fair bit o' variation. LOL OH THE HORROR!!! LOL well, I made it to page 9 so far, so I'm feeling :HOT:
