Halo Hitting Silver Screen in 2007

Franchise Debut Dated

As some may remember, Xbox's biggest franchise is being made into a movie which has finally received a date. According to Variety, the Xbox and PC franchise of Halo will be hitting the silver screen in the summer of 2007. The hopeful date comes after an aggressive assault on Hollywood by Microsoft who asked for things normally reserved for the industry's top stars.

While shopping the deal around, reports claimed that Microsoft demanded $10 million or 15% of the gross, a $75 million budget before actors and directors were hired, and seeing and approving any script changes. Universal and Fox snagged the project after it was passed by numerous studios, but they managed to negotiate the software giant down to $5 million or 10% of the gross.

"'Halo is one of those rare properties where you have a rich world from which to draw as well as a recognized brand, which in today's times is a benefit to anyone developing and producing films," Universal production proxy Donna Langley said.
