Beta 2 Bugs?

1) Can't ever seem to get a Starhawk built, hangs at done next month built or purchased.
2) The AI is not being very smart at the moment, the three major races have tried unsuccessfully to exterminate me for ever, throwing literaly trillions of troops against my planets and loosing.
3) Avatars seem to not be worth having around anymore, long build time, now low hit points, and high cost to operate.
4) There seems to be a huge lag time between the end of the AI's turns and the start of the Players. I think it might have something to do with the music. After the last attack by the AI the game freezes for 23 to 57 seconds until the music of the attacking race ends. With no AI attacks the total time from pressing Turn till the button reappears is approx 23 seconds.
5) Someone else mentioned about the AI knowing where everything is, I put a Starbase out in the middle of nowhere and sure enough after a few turns a ship from someone that I was at war with would shoot out and blast my base.
6) Late in the game population is being mis-reported I had 18.2B listed on the main screen but if you add up all of my planets it should have been 58.78B

I can Zip up and send the save game if anyone wants it.

Other than that the game just keeps getting better and better.

1) Make sure that your StarHawk.ship file has a value defined for range, which should be 4 (same as a survey vessel). Also, if you have both a battleaxe.mdl and a shiphawk.mdl file in your gfx directory, delete one of them because they use the same model and redundant files can cause bizarre problems.

4) It's the end of turn calculations that cause the pause. At the moment, we can't do everything in a thread because of timing issues. 23 seconds does seem excessive...are you playing on a gigantic galaxy?

6) I'll check into it...the planet list doesn't update often enough, so it may be mis-representing things.

I have also experienced the problem with the StarHawk ship. My StarHawk.ship file has the range set to 4. My gfx directory doesn't contain either the battleaxe.mdl or the shiphawk.mdl file. How can I obtain the shiphawk.mdl file?

1) I'll give it a try, a pre-armed survey ship would be useful at the moment :)

4) Yes I'm playing on Gigantic, and I know that is slowing it down, but there also seems to be a bug shutting off the attacking forces theme music which causes a hang also.

6) I've played another 30 or 40 turns on the same game and the numbers still haven't caught up. It does register each population increase and decrease but it is still off. I wonder if it is because the 2 systems (don't laugh) that I have left both have multiple planets colonized. I do know that if I am unfortunate enough to have the total population hit zero on the main screen it will trigger the end game sequence, even if I still have populated planets.

I forgot on my first post my computer is a 1.1gightz 256mb and XPpro SP1.

The three remaining races all seem to be determined to wipe me off the face of the universe, no matter what the cost, they keep sending billions against my well fortified systems with no real result. None of them even want to talk about peace even if I offer them everything that I have.

Oh one last thing, the "Destabilization" slider resets to 0 billion credits after each turn. I'm not sure if it is having any effect at all other than dropping my treasury.

PS: Have a great weekend all!! :CONGRAT:

The starhawk file can be downloaded from the library. StarHawk.ship goes in the data directory and StarHawk.mdl goes into the Gfx directory.

I wanted to know the Galaxy size so that I'd know what level to test on.

I'll check into the population and destabilization stuff.
