Songs of Sunrising

I will get up sunrising
in the morning to be able
to see outside the window
itself not an abundant branch
lost for little larks.

To hold in hand tomorrow
and have in heart yesterday
to keep in mind today's
sunrising
when the larks refuse to sing.

They sang songs of sunrising
but do not anymore
sonnets of the week are replaced
by words of tire squealings and exhaust fumes
choked out
drowned out

And no amount of tears can make the
songs of sunrising
make tears of mine again.

I haven't "looked" for awhile. Your writing has changed, matured, since you have been away at college. Nice job, Alex. I like your new direction.

Ah...these are getting more obscure. Just like most of the famous poetry we read in English. Hmm...maybe our children will read the works of the great Al in school. or perhaps a few of mine thrown in....okay, probably not...but a guy has to have his dreams, eh?

Very good job Al, if you were a dog...you'd earn a biscuit.

~Shaun, how could you label our English poems as "obscure?" You know as well as I do that metophors are the fruit of life. (now picture Mrs. Conkel's looming voice-"We all agree now, don't we class?") He he!

~ Alex, haven't heard from you in a while! I love the poem-it is truly beautiful to conceive the depth and metophoric emotion you've put in there! Nice work. I hope we can catch up sometime soon!

Alex! I'm still in the Philippines. I miss talking to you.

Thank you for your comment on my poem. I even want to upload another one but I'm apprehensive, I don't know why.

And this poem of yours is beautiful. Love this part:
"They sang songs of sunrising
but do not anymore
sonnets of the week are replaced
by words of tire squealings and exhaust fumes
choked out
drowned out"

HEARTS.
