I want a medal

I want a medal

To Stardock:
Could I have a "beat maso" medal? Please? 'Tis good that maso scores are bumped, but a medal would be nice.

I think Killa Koala's idea is a good one! I don't know what would be involved in trying to granting medals retroactively, but if a medal to drengin subscribers could be instituted, I think it would be a fantastic marketing ploy. I bet it would bring in quite a few new members... not to mention increase the cash flow to the company.

It is always nice to see your accomplishments rewarded, and new awards would be nice. In the meantime, the threads recognizing our fellow gamer's accomplishments are a great step! Kudos to all!

There is nothing stopping empires making up their own medals for their overlords.. and placing an honour roll on their web pages or in their blog ...

I'd rather see more work done on the options that one has to look at data in the metaverse.. eg: the suggested sort filter updates.. so that you can sort by difficulty level. and another filter type.. for in the empires screen.. eg: last games submited in X no. of days for each player..

Not to mention ability to get the stats similar to what bakka provides.. (sorry bakka .. not trying to put you out of a job)

Or at least a way to grab any raw data you require for use in external programs.. such as a score reconer so that you can calculate easily what score you'll need to get to advance your empires score by any amount.

there are a lont more important things than medals. I also feel since its easier to get high scores now that the requirements to obtain existing medals need to be adjusted.

How about a medal to every Drengin.net purchaser? That might sell a few more subscriptions.

I thought the medals were rewards for skill and playing the game. I think it would cheapen it if you could simply buy one.

One way to keep medals from taking up too much space and cluttering things up is to arrange them into "sets".

Once you receive all the medals for a particular set, they are replaced by a better medal to indicate you've completed the set. For example the "5 game winner", "5 game winner with score of 1000", "10 game winner with score of 3000", and "20 game winner" would make a nice set.

They should still give out the individual medals in a set so that new players can have early positive reinforcment for their efforts.

The set idea is good, very good, we could create sets also for the different levels played, such as 5 masso, 10 masso, 15 masso, or 5 normal, 10 normal, 20 normal, and when you reach that level you get the set.

Qui-Gon, you are a genius! Stardock could marry Galciv with Pokemon! Gotta collect em all!

KEmperor: you're joking surely. Some of the best things in life have to be purchased. Why should only skill and endeavour be rewarded? Why shouldn't people with money be able to purchase a medal or two? I've always preferred the quick fix to hard work. So buying a medal is instant gratification without the tedium of actually doing anything, and that should appeal to many gamers out there. Plus it instantly rewards Stardock who aren't exactly rolling in money.

I don't know about you, but seeing someone has a medal because he's in the top 25 is a lot more impressive to me than seeing someone has a medal because he gave $25 to Stardock.

That's $30 actually. Does that change your mind? And really, I'm talking about the best traditions of democratic government here. ;)

And some can't be purchased. The point of Drengin.net isn't a medal. Medals are supposed to show that you did things, not bought them, IRL.

I'm talking about one tiny, insignificant, little medal which guys with a bit of spare cash can buy. Why begrudge such a cheap bauble to someone like me who has very little skill or patience? It would make my day, and maybe other people too who are equally indolent or flush with $US. :D

Nah, LdiCesare. You just want to show off LOL

I think that is obvious. I want to have a lot of medals cluttering the message boards. And I want them in 3D too, so I can have an idea what a 3D Galciv would be like. ;p

I would have greater medals replace lesser ones of the same type. Don't have a 5 game and 10 game just replace the 5 game with the 10 game, etc.
