I have the same problem. Update to .80(b) and I get Gal Civ has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Ditto, tried the following also to fix it.
1) Loaded new video drivers
2) cleared all saved games, saved ships, saved races etc.
3) uninstalled, re-installed, re-started system... no luck game still fails at opening.
4) applied a bood to the head... still no joy.

thanks for doing all that. now i know not to. the sacrifice of one will help the many... i think they squeezed in the last update and then went home for the night without checking to see if it worked

OK, fails on my main system running XP SP2, same system running Vista Beta 2, girl friends system and now finally on my Laptop. Varity of hardware with same crash. Bummer.

while i have the attention of the class... when it does start back up how can i get the multimedia pack so i can hear the music for the game
Reply #8 Top
There should be a + to the left of Gal Civ II. click on it and it should expand and show the multimedia pack.
This is Stardock central of course.

NOPE....I DON'T EVEN GET THAT MUCH....

Full Reinstall doesn't work either...never loads...chrashes right away....

Why do people take no pride in thier work...they should have tested this or not released it if it wasn't finished....pathetic.

This would be a good opportunity to give us some Smart Exception logs.

Well you couldn't want help that much... after all, you didn't follow the reporting guidelines. No hardware info given, no OS given, no smart exception.

Post smart exception info please.

When I first launched the .80 update I was "required" by the game to add my serial number and email address....was told registration was successful but that's it....NEVER RUNS!
